Are you planning your elective? Have you recently come back from an elective? Or are you just interested in global health? Welcome to the Oxford Electives Conference! After it's huge success last year, this one-day national event is now in its third year and will consist of a series of stimulating talks addressing topics including working in healthcare in the developing world, catastrophe medicine, the ethical challenges of organising electives, and many more. Small group sessions including practical skills and seminars will equip students with additional skills and knowledge required while on elective, and which will also be invaluable as a junior doctor in the UK. Attendees are encouraged to present research posters on global health topics, with a prize-giving ceremony at the end of the day. We hope this conference will inspire you to plan fantastic electives, help equip you to work in unfamiliar settings, and broaden your interest in global health!

In 2011 AMECA opened a totally sustainable income-producing private elective surgical ward in Malawi. Since then, the wing has raised over £55,000 of income for free paediatric orthopaedic treatment.
