Join us for our 2- day neuro-rehab experiential retreat.

( ⏰Early Bird Rate ends on Thursday!)

Dear colleague

The Breathing Brain Movement retreat is back!

We are pleased to be able to host our 2021 Autumn retreat aimed at professionals working in neurorehabilitation. Once again, we are bringing together leading neuropsychologists and allied professionals who use mind-body approaches (including yoga and tai chi) in their work with clients that live with neurological conditions.

After a very challenging 18 months, the focus of this year’s retreat is compassion - for self and others.

Different workshop facilitators are lined up that will run sessions that offer a concise theoretical introduction to different embodied practices (e.g. Somatic Experiencing and Compassion Focused Therapy) but with a priority on experiential learning for retreat delegates. This approach assists the delegate to fully appreciate the principles behind the methods whilst also gaining personal benefit from the mind-body practices.

The aim is for delegates to be equipped to take elements of these practices into their day-to-day work with clients and staff groups, given the increasing evidence base for more body based approaches in neurorehabilitation. In essence, this 2-day retreat is both self care and CPD!

When is it happening?
Wednesday 22 September 2021 to Thursday 23 September 2021

Where will it be?

Have you ever considered adding Yoga Nidra to your yoga toolbox? Join The Yogologist for a 4 hour professional training on 6th September.

Yoga Nidra, translated into English as Yogic Sleep, is a wonderful way for people to relax and transform their minds at the deepest level.

Arising from the ancient practice of Nyasa, meaning ‘to place’,Yoga Nidra holds huge potential for physiological regulation and psychological integration – especially if it is created and delivered from a neurologically informed place.

For years Shaura has specialised in offering Yoga Nidra for mental health and has been teaching it as part of her more extensive training programmes. In response to the surge in mental health issues and addictive behaviours emerging due to the current international health crisis, she is offering a 4 hour professional training in her unique methodology, to help professionals effectively support their clients.

During this short course, Shaura will share a lecture on the yogic perspective of mind, psychobiological effects of Yoga Nidra, explain how this practice can be used to develop embodied awareness, and strengthen the vulnerable mind. This will be followed by guidance practice and a plenary discussion that will include: how to teach Yoga Nidra online, how to tailor the practice to individual need, and how to apply aspects of Yoga Nidra to other relaxation based practices.

Lockdown Conversations #6 Keith Abraham

During lockdown conditions as a result of COVID 19, it can be hard to train in Wudang Martial Arts when there are no local classes to join, and training has to be done at home. It can be hard to begin a journey of training and cultivation, maintain existing training, and develop oneself further. Becoming ill during this time as a result of COVID 19 or other conditions can make the journey even harder.

In this video series, Daoshu instructor Giles Yeates records some brief conversations with key people in his community of Wudang teachers and promoters of Wudang culture.

In the sixth video, Giles talks with Keith Abraham, UK forces combat veteran, human resiliency specialist, organiser of healing ayahuasca retreats and taiji/qi gong instructor.

You can find out more about Keith's online and face to face classes at www.keithjabraham.com
