Sunday 7 December is the last market at Chalford Sports and Social Club. Olive usually has lots of lovely things sold in aid of Horsfall House (many a last-minute Christmas present there) and I will have the usual herbal stuff plus indoor and outdoor Christmas decorations (unless they all sell on 6 December at Shrubditch Care Farm!) More wreaths outside Nailsworth Library on Saturday 13 December in the morning.

Looking forward this week to speaking to groups near Worcester and Chepstow. Is there a renewed interest in herbal medicine, or is it just that the NHS is having so many problems at present? Had a lovely sunny walk last week along part of the Cotswold Way near Uley, and saw over twenty medicinal plants in as many feet. Amazing.

Problem with one batch of Calendula Skin Cream. Please, if you have any of my Calendula cream, check the batch number. Its on the bottom right of the label. If it reads 'B5/25' then please throw it away, and contact me for a refund or replacement. Email is cjsheldrick@gmail.com. When I made this batch, I did not put the preservative in, and its going mouldy. Sincere apologies to all my customers.

Sunday 4 May is Market day at Chalford Sports and Social Club, 10am - 1pm. As usual, I will have my Calendula skin cream, Rose face cream, teas and tinctures, but also Comfrey and Arnica cream, especially for bruised, swollen and sprained muscles. Post-London marathon? Also lots of plants: pink Phlox paniculata (as picture), planters with sweet peas taking off like rockets just now, and plenty of courgettes, squashes, tomato plants. A few climbing beans, too.

It's nettle time! Get out there (with gloves) and pick the new leaves of stinging nettles. Make tea, make soup, hang up bunches and dry them for wonderful nettle tea throughout the year.
Nettles may be weeds but they are good herbal medicine. They stimulate the liver and kidneys, cleansing the body of toxins and wastes. Nettles clear the skin in eczema and urticaria. Diuretic, they relieve fluid retention, cystitis and urethritis. It softens kidney stones and kidney gravel. It’s good for hayfever, bronchitis and asthma. It is a tonic for the digestion, and relieves diarrhoea, flatulence, ulcers, phlegm and intestinal worms. It helps reduce blood sugar! For those diagnosed 'borderline type 2 diabetes' this is a great herb for naturally reducing blood sugar. Cut down on the chocolate, though....

Looking forward to speaking later today to the Staunton Gardening Club, on 'Medicinal Herbs in the Garden'. This is still my most popular talk, though 'Health from the Hedgerow', about wild medicinal plants, goes down well with countryside groups.

With my other (Spanish) hat on, can I just add that from April I am leading occasional four-hour flamenco workshops? Some people know I have been a flamenco enthusiast for decades, and dancing in this absorbing style since 1989, and these workshops are for absolute beginners. More info on my main FB page.
