What a truly delightful and magical experience we had here at Alexandra House.
Berenice , a wonderful Harpist treated our residents to a selection of both popular songs and traditional Christmas carols, complete with handouts so everyone could sing along. The harps beautiful, ethereal sound was so soothing and calming to listen to - it filled the room with such a peaceful atmosphere.
It was a very special experience, and one resident summed it up perfectly by saying "you look like an angel".

What a truly lovely Christmas party we were invited to at Parkstone Grammar School! Our residents had a fantastic time listening to the beautiful choir, enjoying songs from much-loved musicals and tapping along to the wonderful brass band.

A delicious Christmas dinner was served and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable and festive evening.

We especially loved the drive back in the dark where we could admire all of the sparkling Christmas lights decorating the houses along the way. Such a magical end to a perfect night.

What an absolutely amazing day we had! Our residents were treated to a Merry Parade of staff dressed in the most wonderful (and hilarious) assortment of elf costumes. The laughter was non-stop!
Our cheeky elves took some brilliant photos around the home and even ventured to the local park where they braved the zip line and 'hid' behind trees, bins and bushes for a game of 'Spot the Elf!'
Back at the home, we kept the fun going with festive games using fishing nets, children's paddling pools and colourful balls. Who knew elves were so good at keeping everyone entertained?
The day was spectacularly concluded with a stupendous choir who sang a variety of popular songs and Christmas hits for everyone to enjoy.
So much joy, so much laughter and SO much elf fun was had by all.

What a magical day at our Christmas fayre. Our sparkling Winter Wonderland Walkway, filled with lights, trees and cute polar bears, set the scene perfectly for an afternoon filled with festive joy.
The Mayor officially switched on our Christmas lights making the whole home glow with Christmas cheer.
Families and residents loved visiting Santa in his grotto, browsing stalls and enjoying delicious refreshments (especially the 'Boozy Hot Chocolate!)
Thank you to singer Kelly Lorraine, who entertained everyone with a wonderful mix of Christmas classics and old favourites. There was plenty of dancing and singing along.
The Raffle table was bursting with spectacular prizes which added even more excitement to the day.
Thank you to all who joined in the festive spirit, it was a truly special day.

Entertainers are such a wonderful thing to have in our home.

We were lucky to have the amazing Phil Cowan in to perform a variety of songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. He is perfect for our dementia residents as he is so calming and gentle, its lovely to see the residents singing to every word, proving the power of music and reminiscing.

There were a few daring dancers who eagerly jumped up to make some moves on the dance floor. Those unable to jump up clapped, waved their hands and sang along. A thoroughly great time was had by all.

Jenny said 'he is so good, music makes me feel happy. He can come again'

A group of our residents enjoyed a delightful day out to Christchurch.

First stop was the Red House Museum. It is filled with history, you could 'smell the history' when you stepped inside. The residents were especially interested to learn interested to learn that the museum had once been a workhouse for the poor. They were fascinated as they explored the rooms, admiring old artefact and sharing memories and stories that some of the items reminded them of.

After exploring the museum they took a gentle stroll through the beautifully tended gardens. Everyone really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings as they wandered along the paths.

The visit ended with lovely refreshments in the Priory, a stunning old Church nearby. They were captivated by the colourful stained-glass windows which shimmered beautifully in the sunlight.

With tea and cake in hand we sat together feeling happy and content after such a wonderful day out.

John had such a good time, he said 'it was a very interesting trip, I didn't know the Red House Museum was here.'

Peter said, in the museum, 'I think I am the oldest thing in here, I am 96!'

We had an absolutely amazing morning at Hollywood Bowl in Branscomb, where we met Dorset House staff and residents for an Inter home bowling challenge. We had 2 lanes and pitted our bowling skills against each other in a tense ‘Bowl Off!’

For some of the residents it was a new experience as they had never been Ten Pin bowling before.

We had refreshments whilst we were there and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable trip out.

Alexandra House were the ultimate winners with Derrick and Alan just a point away from each other at the end. Both excelled and scored a Spare.

Thanks to Dorset House for being such fun opposition.

Poole Quay provided a spectacular destination for a cosy café trip. Our residents loved their afternoon outing. We ordered some delicious refreshments, and the staff were so kind, they treated everyone to a scrumptious sausage roll. As you can see from the photos, it was a fun filled with lots of chatter and laughter. Iolanda especially loved her ‘proper’ coffee!
