Entertainers are such a wonderful thing to have in our home.

We were lucky to have the amazing Phil Cowan in to perform a variety of songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. He is perfect for our dementia residents as he is so calming and gentle, its lovely to see the residents singing to every word, proving the power of music and reminiscing.

There were a few daring dancers who eagerly jumped up to make some moves on the dance floor. Those unable to jump up clapped, waved their hands and sang along. A thoroughly great time was had by all.

A group of our residents enjoyed a delightful day out to Christchurch.

First stop was the Red House Museum. It is filled with history, you could 'smell the history' when you stepped inside. The residents were especially interested to learn interested to learn that the museum had once been a workhouse for the poor. They were fascinated as they explored the rooms, admiring old artefact and sharing memories and stories that some of the items reminded them of.

After exploring the museum they took a gentle stroll through the beautifully tended gardens. Everyone really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings as they wandered along the paths.

The visit ended with lovely refreshments in the Priory, a stunning old Church nearby. They were captivated by the colourful stained-glass windows which shimmered beautifully in the sunlight.

With tea and cake in hand we sat together feeling happy and content after such a wonderful day out.

John had such a good time, he said 'it was a very interesting trip, I didn't know the Red House Museum was here.'

Peter said, in the museum, 'I think I am the oldest thing in here, I am 96!'

I am sure you will want to join us in celebrating our Home Manager, Lana's birthday today.

We surprised her with some lovely gifts which she was very happy to receive. She also had a huge badge to wear and a birthday girl headband!

We had an absolutely amazing morning at Hollywood Bowl in Branscomb, where we met Dorset House staff and residents for an Inter home bowling challenge. We had 2 lanes and pitted our bowling skills against each other in a tense ‘Bowl Off!’

For some of the residents it was a new experience as they had never been Ten Pin bowling before.

We had refreshments whilst we were there and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable trip out.

Alexandra House were the ultimate winners with Derrick and Alan just a point away from each other at the end. Both excelled and scored a Spare.

Thanks to Dorset House for being such fun opposition.

Poole Quay provided a spectacular destination for a cosy café trip. Our residents loved their afternoon outing. We ordered some delicious refreshments, and the staff were so kind, they treated everyone to a scrumptious sausage roll. As you can see from the photos, it was a fun filled with lots of chatter and laughter. Iolanda especially loved her ‘proper’ coffee!

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month September.

Our residents had a 'Wunderbar' time celebrating Oktoberfest today. They sampled a delicious variety of German beers and bratwurst sausages, learned about the history of Oktoberfest through colourful handouts and even picked up a few German words on the way.

We rounded off the morning with a mini quiz and some classic oompah music. It really set the festive mood.

A big thank you to everyone who joined in to make it such a fun, flavourful celebration. Prost! (Cheers!) and Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye till next time!)

What a wonderful day we had at Wickmeads, a Care South home in Tuckton. We met up there with some residents from St Ives Home and Wickmeads for a fun filled day.

Hudson, the Activies Lead from Wickmeads, made us all feel very welcome.
He began the day with a History talk all about the local area. He had fact filled handouts, photographs of Tuckton Bridge in construction, Tuckton tea Rooms, Wick Ferry and even some videos showing the Trolley busses and Tucktonia which was a theme park in Tuckton.
After a delicious lunch we were then treated to Hudsons 'jukebox set' where he sang tunes over the eras and we all merrily sang along. The activities staff even acted as backing dancers which caused a few laughs.

We want to thank Wickmeads and Hudson for such a memorable day. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed it. They even asked the minibus driver to 'go over Tuckton Bridge' on the way home so they could see it!

We are delighted to share that our recent Coffee Morning Cake Sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support was a huge success. We raised over £125.

The day was filled with community spirit as so many local friends and family and neighbours came along to enjoy delicious cakes and refreshments.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who baked , donated and helped us to support this wonderful cause. Your generosity and kindness will make a real difference.

Together we have shown the strength of our community and the power of a Cake Sale!

🐴🐷🐰🐶 A Day with the Animals at Purbeck Animal Assisted Learning - PAALS 🌞💛

Our residents had the most wonderful time visiting PAALs in Wareham!

We were welcomed with tea and delicious cakes before heading out to meet the animals. Highlights included:

✨ Stroking and grooming the horses – Jenny especially loved this!
✨ Tempting the cheeky goats out with food 🐐
✨ Feeding fruit to the snuffling pigs 🐷
✨ Cuddling a fluffy bunny 🐰
✨ And the best surprise – a bouncy dog hopping on the bus to sit with everyone! 🐶 Elaine was over the moon to give him a fuss.

The smiles said it all – it was a truly joyful day filled with laughter, memories, and special connections with the animals. 🧡
