A great pictorial showing the correct pad placement - it needs to go exactly where the bra strap would be, hence removing the bra.

Defib pad placement is important. Positioning the pads correctly can double someone’s chance of survival.

While these two examples appear similar, side A is the correct way to place the pads. The key difference is that the pad on the left hand side of the chest has been placed on the side of the rib cage, closer to the armpit.

Very proud to have finished off the year delivering a presentation to my BNI team - you never know when information is going to prove useful to someone. Empowering people to do something rather than nothing.

Our final speaker of 2024 was the fabulous Heather Kingdon of Assist First Aid Training. Each time she presents, she shares vital knowledge around what to do in a first aid scenario.

During this presentation, she shared advice around choking, burns, allergic reactions and fainting.

Heather has grown her business significantly to deliver first aid training UK wide and provides support for businesses and groups of individuals.

A fantastic first aid training session for the bakers of JubyLee Bakes. They were truly a joy to teach, practised the recovery position, did CPR, learned how to treat someone who was choking and basically were great fun!

Another example why CPR should be learnt in schools, businesses, leisure clubs, sports clubs - in fact ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE. That’s the only way survival rates will get better and we can start climbing into double figures for out of hospital cardiac arrest survival rates. They have been sitting at 6-8% for way too long.

What do you get when you mix together a bunch of passionate first aiders?

I could try and think of a witty punch line, but the truth? You get a phenomenal day of learnings and sharing of best practices.

Our fourth First Aid Facilitators Forum brought together a group of local first aid trainers to share best practice, knowledge and creativity which helps us elevate our own training to our delegates.

Together these experts set the foundations for an excellent day of learning.

☑️ Kristina Stiles RN MSc 🇱🇻 🇬🇧 discussed the critical impact of burn first aid.
☑️ Hilary Harrold talked about the benefits of having an IQA within your own team and how that can help your business stay relevant.
☑️ Luma West delivered a presentation on their new cardiac pulse device and invited feedback from us practitioners in the field.
☑️ Matt Alsbury-Morris spoke about Supermedics and how to incorporate teaching within the national curriculum.
☑️ Zak Marks of Kitt Medical gave a phenomenal, personal talk on anaphylaxis and their product containing auto injectors ideal for schools and businesses
☑️ Ricky McCabe of WEL Medical Limited presented the Baby Brayden and showed us the amazing feedback that was available via Bluetooth connectivity

Our speakers make our event relevant, informed and interesting and we can’t thank you enough.
