Celebrating the quiet intelligence of Nature and the seasons has become an increasingly important part of my work in exploring how our homes, and the spaces we gather in, can reconnect us to something deeper, steadier, and more alive.
Designing and producing this Spring Equinox gathering for Patrons of the Future at The Art Academy, Bankside was a true highlight of the last year.
Held at the threshold between winter and spring, the equinox marks a rare moment of balance, where light and dark are equal, before the days begin to stretch open again.
There’s a particular energy here. A sense of emergence.
Of things stirring beneath the surface, not yet visible, but full of quiet momentum.
The evening was designed to hold that feeling.
An atmosphere that felt grounded yet ethereal. Elemental yet refined.
A table laid with natural materials, colourful sharing platters, of early spring ingredients. Generous, textural, and deeply considered.
Florals by Strength & Stem’s Louise Shepherd, drew on this moment of transition, with pansies chosen for their symbolism of thought, remembrance and quiet connection.
Bringing together artists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and cultural leaders, the evening invited a simple but powerful question:
In a time of rupture, what does it mean to build a flourishing future?
An accompanying exhibition, ‘Together at the Seams’, curated by Naomi Marchbank, explored this through the work of a remarkable group of artists.
With thoughtful contributions from:
Social Pantry (catering)
Gimlet Bar (cocktails)
Strength & Stem (florist)
Maison Margaux (service ware)
Town of Ramsgate (wine)
Imagine Foundation (funding partner)
Look What Steve Made (technician)
The Silhouettes Project (music & sound)
Naomi Marchbank (exhibition curator)
Naod Keflom, Florence Bennett, Ellen Gilbert, Anouk Verviers, Will Hardy, Eden McDowell (exhibition artists)
A reminder that when we lose our way, we return to the soil.
And from that place, slowly, quietly, something new begins.
