If your doctor says your bloods are normal but you still feel like crap—tired, bloated, foggy—it’s not in your head.
You’re not broken.
You just don’t have the full picture.
You know your body better than anyone.
But when you’re told everything looks “normal” on paper—it’s easy to second-guess your instincts.
I get it—because I’ve been there.
For years, I knew something wasn’t right.
My gut instinct (literally) was screaming for attention.
But every time I went to my GP, the tests came back “normal.”
I was exhausted, bloated, anxious—and still sent home with a vague, “Just keep an eye on it.”
Turns out, I wasn’t crazy. I was undiagnosed.
Eventually, I was diagnosed—but it took years of listening to my body, digging deeper, and not accepting “you’re fine” as the final word.
Here’s the truth most women aren’t told:
🩺 "Normal" doesn’t always mean optimal. Ranges are based on population averages—but what’s “normal” for someone else might not be right for you.
🧬 Your blood tests may not be telling the whole story. Not all markers are tested. Hormones like oestrogen, progesterone, cortisol—or nutrients like zinc, magnesium, selenium, and inflammation markers—are often skipped unless there’s a very specific reason.
📉 Symptoms often show up before standard labs do. Especially in midlife when hormones, stress, and metabolism start shifting. Things like low iron, thyroid dysfunction, or perimenopausal changes can make you feel off long before anything shows up on a basic test.
💡 What can you do?
✨ Trust your gut—your symptoms are real.
✨ Ask what was actually tested.
✨ Request a copy of your results—or check the NHS App.
✨ If needed, explore further testing.
Your health is too important to ignore ‘normal’ when you don’t feel normal.
