🔸🤩The Older Adults/Rehab class 🔸🤩

🔸One of the most striking effects of aging is the involuntary loss of muscle mass, strength and balance. However, certain practices such as taking up activities that challenge strength and balance can help reduce the rate of loss and even prevent it.

❓What is STICKMOBILITY and how is it beneficial?.👇

👉It’s a system that increases:👇

🔶Range of motion.

🔶Full body strength.

🔶Stability.

🔶Body awareness.

🤷‍♀️How does it do this?? .
Through the following principles!: 👇

🔶leverage ( the Mobility Stick allows you to access a greater range of motion using good leverage to make it easier to overcome the body’s resistance to bend in a certain direction).

🔶Stability ( the Stick gives you a better base of support for learning how to balance through different postures.) .

🔶Feedback ( the Stick gives visual and kinaesthetic feedback to enhance learning and body awareness).

🔶Irradiation ( StickMobility uses the sticks to help increase irradiation by driving the sticks into the ground, ceiling, wall and squeezing to activate grip and trunk power. This allows you to give more input into the nervous system and make changes faster) .

🔶Isometrics ( Time Under Load: using isometric exercise for 6 mins would be equivalent muscle work of 30-35 mins of gym work on commercial weight lifting equipment) Stick Mobility uses this at segmental points or entirely through a movement to help strengthen different ranges.

🔶Co-ordination ( using the Stick enhances the vital neural feedback from the hands to the brain ) .

🔹Physio Gym Class 🔹

🔹Are you recovering from injury and not got back to your sport yet or are you lacking the confidence/skills to be back in the gym environment or maybe a combination of both?!!

🔹If the answer is Yes then this could be the class for you. It will take your rehabilitation to the next level! In this small class of 4 you will be coached by an experience Sports Rehab Physio who will focus on increasing your strength tailoring your exercises to your rehabilitation needs with the aim of getting you back to your chosen level of activity whether this is gym, CrossFit, running, hiking, lifting etc.

🔹Class will involve an array of strength equipment including barbells, bands, kettlebells,dumbbells,TRX, physioballs, and simple body weight exercises too. All abilities are catered for and will be taught specific to your rehab/physio needs

🔹This class is seen as a bridging class to get you confident to move on to your chosen sport. Once you are there then we have excellent contacts with local fitness professionals in different fields such as running, CrossFit, gym, powerlifting and others from which to refer you on to.

Stainton Village Hall: Wednesdays 1pm, 2pm (older adults class) 6 and 7pm
Catterlen Physio Gym : Tuesday evenings 6 and 7pm

Who teaches it? All classes are coached by a StickMobility certified Coach who are also Physiotherapists. Jemma Donald and Helen Jackson

What is it?: A great system of training to improve core stability, strength, flexibility and control. It uses the orange flexible stick as a lever to explore new ranges as resistance to build strength through that range and as a stability tool to improve control through that new found range.
