Its all very well learning first aid, but we would all rather if we didnt get into a situation where we may need it in the first place. To help reduce risks, here is Mountaineering Scotlands handy advice on that problem of navigational tools switching off mid way through your hill walk.

Following the results of a survey, Mountaineering Scotland have launched new guidance for those who use their phones, or GPS devices, for navigating in the hills. Fireworks Night - Be Fire Aware
We teach this to our 4, 5 & 6 yr olds in our martial arts classes. My son is 21 now, but this is one drill that he remembers from his training at aged 4.

Today I walked over 1km across the dry basin of a Scottish loch to find the waters edge!
Dehydration is not just about too much heat. Its also about taking on board enough fluids as well as the loss of fluids through illness. It can be very serious. Read more from the NHS!
