📹 For the end of week 3 of the Scottish Care Care Creates campaign we're sharing their short video round up of the week’s messaging, reflecting on sustainability as a core part of good care - not an optional extra.

🌱 Social care is not just reactive, but actively building stronger, greener and more connected communities.

Neon was back in fashion at Clement Park as the team lit up the lounge in full 80s style to conjure up a disco diner! 💥🕺

Legwarmers, headbands and plenty of laughter set the scene for a retro afternoon filled with Bowie, Whitney, colourful props and diner‑style treats. 🎶

Dance‑offs, best‑dressed contests and spontaneous singalongs brought everyone together. All in all, it was a joyful blast from the past and a marvellous wee event where the team really pulled out the stops. 🎉

✅ What we’re calling for…

To make climate‑conscious care possible across Scotland, our manifesto calls for practical action, including:

- Ring‑fenced climate funding for social care
- A sustainability strategy for every provider
- Social care included in local resilience planning
- Energy‑efficient buildings, renewables and low‑emission transport
- Staff training and support on sustainable practice
- Sustainability built into commissioning and procurement
- Monitoring and transparent reporting toward net‑zero
- Working with people who access support, families and communities
- Sharing best practice across the sector

These steps help build a greener sector for healthier communities.

Last summer's work at our Coupar Angus care home beautifully reflects this week's focus on sustainability, creativity and wellbeing.

The team have transformed recycled materials into a wooden‑pallet planter and developed a calming sensory garden that supports connection, outdoor engagement and moments of peaceful enjoyment for residents.

It’s a wonderful reminder that small, thoughtful ideas can bloom into something powerful, for our people and the environment. 🌱

Week three of Scottish Care’s Care Creates campaign is about 'Care that Cares for People and Planet' 🌍🌿

Within our homes, sustainability is a part of daily life. From using recycled materials to embracing eco‑friendly gardening and outdoor activities, we’re committed to nurturing both wellbeing and our environment.

Every year, many of our residents head out into their garden spaces to plant, grow and care for nature throughout the season. Their enthusiasm, creativity and dedication inspired our ‘BCG in Bloom’ competition, a celebration of the green‑fingered residents who lead the way in cultivating vibrant gardens.

🌱 This week is all about care that cares for the people and the planet.

As part of the Care Creates… campaign, we’re joining organisations across Scotland in shining a light on sustainability in social care - and why it matters for people’s health, dignity and community wellbeing.

This week’s focus on integration and collaboration as part of Scottish Care's manifesto reflects what we see every day - when services work together, care feels more connected and more consistent for the people we support.

Partnership, trust and shared responsibility make a real difference.

Next week, we’ll be focusing on Care that cares for the people and planet, looking at how social care can support wellbeing while caring for our environment 🌍

As seen on STV News last night, 100-year-old WWII veteran Dennis Arnold celebrated his milestone birthday in spectacular style, by taking to the skies! ✈️🎉

With support from Adventure Aviation at Balado Airfield, Dennis enjoyed a special flight over his former home in Alyth and his current home at BCG Coupar Angus, where residents waved him by.

A former Cessna pilot and Royal Army Medical Corps veteran, Dennis continues to inspire, from starring in the Witnesses to History documentary to walking 16 miles last summer to raise funds for a new sensory room to benefit his friends.

Dennis says he feels “truly blessed” to relive his flying days. What a way to celebrate a century! 🙌

A marvellous story, particularly in week of championing Integration & Collaboration.

Our Story

As we get older, we all have our own specific care and support needs. Here at Balhousie Care, our team is passionate about delivering the highest quality care and support to our residents, ensuring that our homes really are a 'home-from-home'. ‘The Balhousie Way’ is our own little term which describes the way in which we like to run our homes. Always with care at our core, always with our residents in mind. We treat all of our residents as individuals and appreciate that each one is unique, with different likes, dislikes, needs and care requirements. Each of our twenty-five care homes reflect this and aim to cater for the specific care needs of every resident. Our nursing, care and support staff are our core, they're what makes us tick as an organisation. They are on the front line of contact with our residents; always there, providing genuine care, no matter what. It is impossible to measure their contribution to our organisation and without them, we simply could not function.
