Are you stressed?
Did you know that stress creates both a low supply AND a higher demand for nutrients? It contributes to poor health both mentally and physically! Regular de-stressing is so important- here are a few ideas:
1. Adopt a healthy work-life balance
2. Eat wholesome nutritious food
3. Empty your stress bucket daily
4. Set boundaries, say no sometimes
5. Nurture nourishing friendships and relationships
6. Spend time outdoors, exercise
7. Try and get a good night’s sleep
8. De-cluttering your environment helps to de-clutter your mind
9. Practice deep breathing
10. Finish the day with a gratitude list!

Why sleep?

In the UK 16 million people are said to be suffering from sleepless nights.
Nearly a third of UK adults say they have insomnia whilst two thirds suffer from disrupted sleep, and almost a quarter sleep no more than 5 hours per night. Why does this matter?

Quality sleep is thought to be vital for physical and mental health and well-being! It plays an important part in metabolism, immunity, s*x drive, cognitive functions and more.

So if our sleep is regularly disrupted, this will result in blood sugar imbalance which in turn leads to weight gain, insulin resistance, depression, impaired immunity and other problems.

So what can we do to enhance our sleep quality and quantity? Here are a few simple tips to help you on your way to a good night’s sleep:

- Introduce a ‘power-down hour’ 1 hour before bed time: dim the lights, put away electronics to prevent over-stimulating the brain, journal your thoughts and/or read
- Go to bed and get up the same time every day, as well as spend at least 20 minutes outdoors early in the day, to regulate your circadian rhythm
- Avoid caffeine consumption after 2 pm
- Have your last meal no later than 2 hours before bed
- Keep your bedroom dark and quiet- use eye masks or ear plugs if necessary

If you or a loved one suffers from regular sleep disturbance, please get help, don’t accept this as normal. There are solutions available for you!

So you may be wondering- what exactly is a health coach? What do health coaches do?
As a health coach I help people identify areas in their lives where they feel stuck, and then support them to get un-stuck and transform their unhealthy habits that have held them captive.
I consider the whole person, and approach the transformation in an holistic way, considering each individual's unique needs and preferences.
During the 90-day program we discuss different topics and set empowered action steps each week.
That way the client feels enabled to claim back control for their own health and wellbeing.
Health coaching is effective because of the three main ingredients: the right steps in the right order, the right system, and accountability.
I call it 'Stepping out, and Stepping in'- stepping out of your comfort zone, and into the best version of YOU 🙂
