Pain is temporary...

Let’s take a moment to unpack this…

Yes, for the most part, pain is temporary. When it comes to the discomfort of pushing yourself in the gym and testing your limits, it’s a short term discomfort that leads to growth.

The same can be said about your current position in life… your emotions… the job you hate… the frustration you feel...

However, what’s often overlooked is this...

Emotional pain and discomfort can be temporary but “temporary” can end up being a very long time depending on the actions you take...

That feeling of being uncomfortable within yourself… insecurities, lack of confidence… that inner pain is temporary...

But it can last far longer than it needs to if you keep repeating the same actions day in, day out. Year in, year out. Making the same choices that keep you stuck in that place of discomfort...

Then all of a sudden, when you do start making changes… you feel like an imposter.
The only shortcut to moving through that temporary inner pain is in the small decisions that are often overlooked...

It starts with your non-negotiables...

Small habits, repeated over time until it feels effortless, and you don’t even notice the shift into confidence and happiness...

Stop waiting to live your life...Start becoming the version of yourself you’ve always known you could be.

You don’t have a motivation problem…

You have a lack of structure within your day to day routine...

Too many people are relying on “feeling up for it” before they train… and that’s exactly why they keep falling off and letting the all or nothing mindset take over...

Because motivation comes and goes as all it is, is an emotion. It’s not something you can depend on, as there are too many variables that affect how we think and feel on a daily basis...

What actually moves you forward is having structure in place:

knowing what days you will train...
Having a plan to follow...
non-negotiables you stick to whether you feel like it or not, starting with small easy non-negotiables that you can easily repeat daily. Slowly creating subconsious diciplin...

That’s what builds consistency and once you have consistency starting to flow, you stop needing motivation as something to fall back on, as it becomes something that integrates into your lifestyle...

If you keep waiting to feel ready, you’ll keep starting over and repeating the same process day in and day out....month to month leading to year after year just waiting to 'FEEL' motivated enough to get started again

Drop a DM if you know you need more structure but you don't know where to start!

If I was to start over again, here are the top 3 phases I would skip over...

❌️ Ditch the go hard or go home phase- instead I would focus on more 3–5 rep range build-up sets, warming up to my main working sets of 8–10. This method has taken me far with increasing my strength within the chosen rep ranges... too often when I was young, did I become stuck and plateau by doing too many reps on all of my sets building up to the ones that matter most, i.e. my chosen working sets, which range from 1–3 working sets depending on my current goals.

❌️ Ignore dirty bulks! Now that’s not to say I wouldn’t have the odd moment of indulgence more often, but I would focus more on just an increase in food volume, sticking with healthy, highly nutritious foods... too often in my younger days did I focus on takeaway foods to give me the calories I was aiming for, which yes helped me gain weight, but I felt sluggish and slow and completely overshot, when I could have achieved a better bulk by just making smarter choices.

❌️ Stop worrying about volume! This one mistake I made before was focusing on way too much in every session, thinking more sets or more exercises was always necessary, and being too scared to take rest days because I was convinced I would immediately lose muscle... especially while I was in construction, I would have been better off hitting 3 well-structured weight training days and 1 low-intensity cardio day, and just let my body recover for 3 in the week... (Again, days can vary depending on current goals/recovery plan/daily routine, i.e. job demand, etc.)

Drop me a message or comment “MOMENTUM” if you’re ready to stop repeating the same mistakes and actually move forward.

What if someone showed you the next 15 years of your life… based on your last 12 months?

15 years sounds like a long time…but it comes around faster than you think.

Speak to anyone a bit further down the line and they will tell you that...

Now, be honest with yourself for a moment...

If nothing changes… if you keep living exactly how you have this past year…

How old will you be?

What job will you be in?

How often will you see your friends and family?

How many new places will you have experienced?

How many days will you actually move your body (gym, steps, activity)?

Will you have actually had fun?

Did you truly try your best?

Will you be proud of the effort you put into your life?

And most importantly… would you be happy to do it all again?

These are questions I come back to regularly...

Because it’s very easy to let comfort, routine, and “I’ll do it later” quietly dictate your life.

A simple example being I realised I’d only seen some close friends twice in the last year...If that continued, that’s just 30 times over the next 15 years…

Out of 5,475 days!

That hit me...

And this is exactly why your fitness journey shouldn’t sit separate from your life…

It should enhance it...

Give you more energy...More confidence...More experiences...More life...Not restrict you.

Because when you’re actually enjoying your life, building momentum becomes a lot easier...

So here’s something to think about..

What 3 things are you going to commit to over the next 12 months…
that will improve your fitness AND genuinely increase your quality of life?

Personal post that might help some of you…

I don’t often share much about my personal life on here, or at least not the deep stuff, but I felt like this might help a few of you...

This month, 8 years ago, I lost both my mum and my stepdad within 24 hours of each other.

It goes without saying that it was an incredibly tough time to process and come to terms with. I was actually 2–3 hours into an 8-hour drive when I got the call about my mum.

What might sound crazy to some is that the very next day, I went straight to the gym and carried on.

Yes, it was definitely a distraction from my current reality. But more importantly, I knew I needed to stay as mentally strong as possible and hold onto some form of normality through my routine...

This is exactly why I speak so much about building momentum, creating structure, and developing sustainable habits...

Because without the discipline I had built over the years (and remember that discipline is just repeated habits over time, not something you either have or don’t), I could have easily gone down a much darker path.

Instead of using the gym as a way to cope, it could have been quick dopamine fixes, unhealthy habits, becoming much harder to process...

And for anyone who has gone through loss, this isn’t about saying you should do what I did and go straight into the gym!

The reason for this post, is just to highlight that having something to work towards, goals to focus on, and healthy habits in place goes far beyond how you look.

As it is more than just about the superficial side of it, the inner strength and resilience that comes with it, which can mean a lot more 🙏

It’s that time of the year again!

You start noticing the evenings getting lighter... The weather slowly warming up... And suddenly the thought of summer doesn’t feel that far away anymore.

For a lot of people, that’s when the pressure starts creeping in...

You begin thinking about holidays, days at the beach, BBQs, and wearing clothes that show a little more skin. And with that can come the familiar feeling of wishing you’d started earlier.

Because when the first real hot day finally arrives, many people realise they’re still not feeling how they hoped they would...Still reaching for the extra layer. ..Still feeling a little self conscious... Still wishing they’d given themselves more time...
And it’s rarely because people don’t know what to do.

More often it’s the same pattern repeating itself each year...Waiting for motivation... Leaving it until the last minute and Trying to rush results instead of building habits that actually stick.

The truth is the people who feel their best in summer usually didn’t start a few weeks before it arrived.

They understood that reaching their peak self takes time and work, while stripping away old habits and routines, they need time as they build on new habits and non negotiables that not only get them to their goal but sustain it.

So as we start heading towards the warmer months, it’s worth asking yourself one simple question...

When summer comes around this year, do you want to feel relieved that you started when you did…or frustrated that another year passed wishing you had?

And if you still haven't started yet, but have been thinking about it for a while comment down below why you think you have been putting it off!
