New year - new opportunity!

These fabulous red boots were the highlight of a recent charity luncheon attended by Helen (spot her in the picture with the team who organised the event) in support of the new Cambridge Children's Hospital.

Wearing the boots was guest speaker Steve Pateman, the original Charlie Price from the hit Kinky Boots movie and musical. It was fascinating to hear the true story of how the film came about.

Helen told us: "Seeing Steve walk into the room in these high heels made me wonder how many of us wearing winter boots, particularly a design with high heels, truly look after our feet at this time of year? We are not big on making new year resolutions which are all too easy to break. However as we start 2026, our small, hard-working team will try harder to follow the advice Helen gives her clients, customers and Bowen Technique students to improve both physical and mental health:

- improve your sleep hygiene
- take up a new challenge

A wintery walk, however well wrapped up against the cold, can make those painful finger joints throb. We are told country folk prefer leather gloves rather than wollen mittens which can let the wind through.

And Helen's advice, when you take off your gloves back home, apply award-winning oil and gently clench and open your fists to get the blood flowing. Showering in the dark has become a talking point on social media... sounds a tad risky to us!

However the benefits of bathing in the dark or dim light, perhaps with a scented candle positioned in a safe spot, we can absolutely recommend:

🛀 fewer distractions encourages a meditative state
🛀 helps calm the mind after a long or stressful day
🛀 helps production of melatonin to aid more restful sleep
