π΄ββοΈ Conquering the Challenge: 700-Mile Cycle Ride For Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice Sue Ryder! π΄ββοΈ
On Monday Night, John and I completed our epic 700-mile cycle ride in June for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, smashing our target in just 24 days! John even managed to squeeze in a refreshing dip in a cold pool before we powered through to the finish. πββοΈ
Our journey in June has seen us cycling through hail, rain, and high winds, finally rewarded by scorching sunshine. βοΈ We've cycled through picturesque villages in five counties (Cambridgeshire, Essex, Northamptonshire, Huntingdonshire, and Lincolnshire), navigating disused railway lines, muddy trails, farmers fields, and forests brimming with stinging nettles. π§οΈπ³ John impressively completed two-thirds of an 18-mile ride despite a strained thigh muscle! Plus, he managed to smash 1 hour off his 50-mile ride time. β±οΈ
As parents, Clare Montgomery Robinson and I couldn't be prouder. John faced a roller coaster of challenges, especially during the last few scorching days, learning to listen to his body, adapt to conditions, and master the art of recovery and refocus. Last nightβs ride, rerouted to embrace a cool breeze, showcased his resilience and determination, remarkable for an 11-year-old. πͺ
