Residents at Kingfisher Court have come up with a crafty solution to the problem of weary hands from holding their playing cards. They have made these card holders from old CDs - so they are recycling too! They decorated them beautifully, and they are a great solution for residents whose dexterity isn't so good. Thanks to Ann Bellamy for leading the session.

Happy 100th birthday to Lapwing Apartments resident, Roland Maycock. He recently celebrated this amazing milestone birthday in style with a drive in a Rolls Royce taking him and two of his grandchildren to Burghley House, one of his favourite places to visit. It was then back to Lapwing for a party with around 80 family and friends, including his daughters and family attending from Australia. And all topped of with his card from King and Queen.

At the weekend, The Acres retirement housing scheme hosted a special D-Day celebration event to mark the 81st anniversary of this historic occasion. It was a memorable day as residents and members of the local community came together to honour and remember. The event included a gift stall, tombola, burger stand, and ice cream van. There was also a Ukulele band and a moving performance by a bagpipe player, and residents were treated to a delicious buffet curtesy of National Grid.
