🌿 Topiary domes – These are yew (Taxus baccata), clipped into bold domed forms with pointed tops. Yew is a classic for formal topiary because it’s dense, slow-growing, and responds really well to shaping.
🌸 Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’ – The big white pom-pom flowers behind the yew domes. These hydrangeas flower in midsummer and give that soft, frothy contrast against the clipped evergreens.
🌱 Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) – Running along the front edge of the bed. Lavender gives fragrance, attracts pollinators, and its spiky flowers break up all the rounder shapes in the design.
🌿 Climbers – Wisteria is trained against the stone wall, climbing around the windows. Adds that romantic, old-English feel and really suits the architecture.
🌳 Mixed evergreens – There are also other rounded evergreens in the mix (likely box, holly, or laurel), helping layer different shades and textures of green.
Together, this combo creates a very formal English garden look: architectural structure from the yew, softness from the hydrangeas, scent and movement from lavender, and romance from the wisteria
