What is Nutritional Therapy? Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and
help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing. Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalized nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. They will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided. Who can use nutritional therapy? Nutritional therapy can be safely used by anyone. A Registered Nutritional Therapist will thoroughly assess the needs of each individual to ensure that any recommendations suggested are in the individual’s best interests, having been researched using the most current scientific evidence. Any supplements recommended will be checked for interactions against any medications or supplements being taken. What can nutritional therapy be used for?

Are you panicking about the lack of salad in the shops (or is it just me 😂)? If, like me, your lunchtime go to’s are salad, then it’s time to look at alternatives that actually may end up being slightly more healthy! Try using veg that is more readily available at the moment such as courgettes, aubergines, tender stem broccoli etc. Roasting, grilling or lightly steaming and then tossing with your favourite dressing may increase the range of nutrients and fibre you are consuming plus it’s a bit more exciting than tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber, don’t you think? Top it with some protein such as cannellini beans or grilled chicken - I’ve used tinned sardines but they didn’t look particularly aesthetically pleasing so I left it off for the photo 😜 If you would like advice on how to tweak your diet to improve your health, please contact me to discuss how I can help you. Happy Sunday everyone 💕☀️
