Breast Screening Saves Lives 🌸
In the UK, women aged 50 to 70 are invited to go for free breast screening every 3 years. These screening mammograms can pick up breast cancer, even before there are any signs or symptoms. And the sooner breast cancer is found, the more likely it is to respond well to treatment.
For people like Clare, (pictured below), who had no symptoms, these mammograms can be lifesaving.
“It wasn’t obvious like a lump, it was such a shock to me and the whole family. I’m so grateful that I went for that screening. I really am the person without symptoms whose life was probably saved by going to that routine mammogram.”
The potential for breast screening to save more lives is huge. It finds most breast cancers early when chance of survival is 98%.
