1000% it’s about money.

It won’t work.. mrgteacher thank you for speaking out for the sake of children and teachers.

It’s not only children with SEND who will suffer when great teachers leave the profession because they cannot see a way of delivering everything new expected in their job role anymore.

I think this every time I see provisions in an EHCP for tech like Laptops and software, with zero mention of quiet 1:1 time outside the for the child to learn to use them..

My son is amazing at using his phone, and he definitely needs to use a laptop for secondary with software to check spellings etc..

But if I put my laptop in front of him and said to open word and get going, he would have no chance of success.

Read section F of your child’s EHCP..

Make sure each provision is being delivered and that all resources are covered with direct support to learn to use them.

If they are not..

It’s reasonable to ask the SENCO in writing how they will learn.

So you have found us. We are here to help you find a way forward. To find your voice.

We work with families navigating the SEND system, most specifically the EHCP process.

We offer free support on FB and paid consultancy within all areas of EHCPs.

I started SEND Family Instincts after the Independent Support role funding stopped, as I could still see families struggling. My work with families and young people over the past 15yrs have centred around opening doors, through knowledge and understanding, towards a brighter future.

My past includes supporting; Foster Carers and Birth Families, Unemployed people looking for that next opportunity, Young people, Adults with mental or physical health conditions, Families trying to navigate the SEN education system, Families going through divorce or contact resolutions, Victims of domestic violence.

All these families shared the same goals - Keep on moving till they found their solution. None of the families felt they had any control over stopping the process. I supported them to work out where they were and then make a plan to move themselves through.

You are most likely looking for help because you are coming up against the big guns - They use language you can’t understand and you find they complicate things to make it hard for you. You are not alone.

You may be someone who feels they have a good grasp on whats going on, but you just want a side kick, taking notes, tracking emails and offering advice and support when you can’t quite work out the best next step.

SEND Family Instincts is here to help. Think of us as a scribe, a voice, a soundboard to share ideas, a hand to hold when you need it and a light bulb to help shine the way through.

We offer Parent requests, Draft checking, Mentoring and Life skills work, Appeals, Reviews and SEND negotiation.
