Meet Eszter! 🌸

Eszter is a familiar face at our Cake and Cuppa sessions in Mount Wise at Mount Wise Neighbourhood Centre — and the creative force behind our lovely craft and collage table! ✂️🖍️

Eszter’s journey hasn’t been easy. Within just one year, she was diagnosed with cancer, underwent surgery, and then suffered a serious brain injury after an accident. It was an incredibly challenging time — she often struggled to sleep, and her mind was constantly racing.

To help herself heal, Eszter began making collages — and soon discovered how therapeutic and calming it could be. 💕
In her own words: “If it helps me, it can help others too.”
Now, Eszter shares her creativity and kindness with others at our monthly Cake and Cuppa sessions, running a welcoming collage and craft group where people can relax, chat, and connect. 🫶

🎨 Come join Eszter!

A Plymouth Cancer Champion shared some really useful links for secondary breast cancer with us recently. She’s keen people understand better this type of cancer and are also aware of the support that’s out there too. So…it’s important we share that info with you 😊

Secondary breast cancer is when a cancer that began in your breast spreads to another part of your body. It’s often also referred to as Stage 4 or metastatic breast cancer.

https://make2ndscount.co.uk/
A very patient led and focussed organisation. Really helpful website and page.
They also have private groups for sbc patients and a separate group for family members.

https://metupuk.org.uk/ Excellent infographics. Their page is also very informative

Rachel is member of both ‘Stage 4 Deserves More’ and ‘Seconds Together’ for the last couple of Octobers, she's posted every day throughout October and has made her posts public so anyone can share or use her info.

Thanks for the info Gina 😊👍

Today we met with Wendy from Plymouth and District Bowel Cancer Support Group. It’s a great local support group run by its members. Wendy coordinates, chairs and generally does all sorts for the group ❤️.

The group has a closed group on Facebook and also meets face to face once a month. Members are there for one another, friendly and welcoming, share tips and experience and understand what ‘it’s all about’.

Working together to make a difference is so important and we’re looking forward to linking up more with Wendy and this group.

What a great way to raise money and get people talking more about cancer. Popped into KOKO hair with a donation around midnight and the vibe was awesome 🩷🩷🩷

Go Lottie! 👏👏👏

💗 24-Hour Blow-Dry Marathon for The Pink Ribbon Foundation! 💗

Lottie had planned to take on a skydive for the Pink Ribbon Foundation, but due to unforeseen circumstances, she wasn’t able to complete it. 💕

Not one to give up, Lottie has decided to take on a brand-new challenge — a 24-hour blow-drying marathon right here at Koko Hair! ✨

💨 From 8am Saturday 18th October to 8am Sunday 19th October, Lottie will be blow-drying non-stop (yes, through the night!) to raise money and awareness for this incredible charity supporting those affected by breast cancer. 🎀

The milk_shake haircare family, who proudly donate to the Pink Ribbon Foundation every year, wanted to do even more this year — and we’re so excited to be part of it! 🙌

💗 All blow-dries will be FREE, but donations to the charity are hugely appreciated. Every little bit helps!

If you’d like to support Lottie — especially during those tough late-night hours — please message us to book your slot or pop in to cheer her on! 🌸

Let’s make this a weekend to remember and raise as much as we can for a cause that means so much. 💕
