Let’s talk about something that tends to make people uncomfortable…baneful magick.

There’s this idea floating around that if you ever hex, curse, or bind someone, you’re suddenly a “dark” witch and honestly, that’s just not true. Balance is part of the craft. Just as we work to heal, bless, and protect, sometimes justice requires a firmer hand.

For me, baneful magick isn’t about cruelty it’s about boundaries and balance. It’s the energetic equivalent of standing your ground when someone’s crossed a line too many times. I don’t reach for it lightly, but I also don’t shy away when it’s necessary.

Performing baneful work doesn’t make you a baneful witch. It makes you a witch who understands that both light and shadow have their place and that justice, protection, and peace sometimes demand we walk the darker path with purpose and respect.

I am absolutely buzzing with excitement and gratitude right now because I have the incredible honour of being part of something truly magickal and powerful. 🌙✨

I’ve been invited to contribute to Liber Noctis — The Book of Night, a living grimoire created by the witches of The Rising Shadow Coven. This isn’t just a book it’s a tapestry of spells, charms, wisdom, and heart woven together by many hands, many voices, and many souls dedicated to the craft.

To be included in such a sacred, evolving project...one that celebrates community, diversity, and the power of shared magick is beyond special to me. 🖤📜 Every word, every piece of knowledge added is part of a greater whole, and I feel deeply honoured to add my spark to that growing flame.

Let’s talk about something that often gets overlooked in our magical journeys…self-love and self-care. 🌿🕯️

In a world that’s constantly telling us to do more, give more, be more, it’s easy to forget that we are the vessel through which our magic flows. Every spell you cast, every intention you weave, every connection you forge it all begins with you.

Witchcraft isn’t just about herbs, candles, or incantations it’s about energy. And if your energy is running on empty, your magic will be too. 💫

🪞 Self-love is the sacred act of recognising your own worth, not just as a witch, but as a powerful being. It’s standing before your altar and knowing that you are worthy of love, joy, and abundance simply because you exist.

🌙 Self-care is the ritual of tending to yourself like you would a cherished spell jar, nurturing, cleansing, protecting, and feeding your spirit. That might mean taking a salt bath to cleanse stagnant energy, setting boundaries to protect your peace, or simply resting when your body asks you to.

Protection is one of the most important foundations of any magickal practice. Whether you’re guarding your home, shielding your aura, banishing negativity, or sending hexes back where they came from. 🌿🔥

Here’s a little info on protective herbs and their uses.
These botanical protectors are more than just plants! They’re ancient guardians, each with their own spirit, strength, and purpose. 🌙🌿

🌿 Core Protectors (shield & seal):
Rosemary – Creates a strong, flexible shield around you and purifies your aura.
Bay Laurel – Reflects curses back to sender and seals energetic boundaries.
Angelica Root – Raises a powerful spiritual wall against entities and ill will.

🔥 Kick-Back & Banishing (bite-back power):
Black Pepper – Adds fiery protection; repels hexes and sends malicious energy running.
Nettle – Stings back harmful intent and strengthens defensive magic.
Wormwood – Banishes lingering entities and drives away malevolent spirits.

Choose one or more methods, they all work beautifully:

1. Smoke Shield: Burn a pinch of the blend on charcoal and waft the smoke through your aura and space, saying something like:

2. Protective Sachet: Place the herbs in a black or deep-red pouch. Carry it on your person or hang it above your bed to ward while you sleep.
3. Spell Jar: Layer the herbs with black salt and protective symbols in a jar. Seal with wax and place near your door or altar.
4. Aura Oil (advanced): Infuse the herbs (especially rosemary, yarrow, cedar) in carrier oil for a moon cycle. Strain and anoint your pulse points before magical work or when you feel under psychic pressure.

💡 Witchy Tip: Because you’re adding “bite-back” ingredients (like black pepper and nettle), this blend doesn’t just protect! It actively repels and returns harmful magic. It’s excellent for witches who work publicly or do heavy spiritual work.
