πŸŽ—οΈ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month β€” a vital time to remind everyone about the importance of regular breast checks.

Performing a monthly breast self-check can help you become familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel. There’s no right or wrong way to do this; the key is to be consistent and attentive to any changes. Early detection plays a crucial role in successful treatment, so knowing your body is an important step in staying healthy.

If you notice anything unusual, such as lumps, changes in size or shape, dimpling of the skin, or any other concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your GP.

Remember, breast screening and self-checks are complementary tools in maintaining your breast health. If you’re eligible, make sure you’re up to date with your breast screening appointments.

Your health matters β€” take time this October to check in with yourself and encourage those you care about to do the same.

Together, we can raise awareness and save lives. πŸ’™

Well done Plymouth Citybus πŸ‘

A big thankyou to Plymouth Citybus, who are kindly supporting those in Plymouth eligible for Breast Screening and living in low income households by providing free day rider passes to attend their appointments.

Breast Screening Nurse Kayleigh says, "Support from businesses like this in the city will not only help improve our breast screening uptake, but will also reduce the stress and financial burden that could put some women off from attending."

Theresa Williams, Mammographer who actively promotes breast health in the community, and works with inner city support groups said, "I know from talking to several ladies transport will often be a concern, the fact we can now provide free day riders for ladies to not only attend but get home from their appointment is such a fantastic help."

If you or a family member would like to receive a free Plymouth Citybus day rider to attend your breast screening appointment, please contact our friendly team on 01752 431652 or email
plh-tr.plymouthbreastscreening@nhs.net.

If you have missed a recent invitation, it's never too late to reschedule. BREAST SCREENING SAVES πŸŽ€
