For a lot of us, coffee is the go-to morning ritual (and we love it too!) ☕️

But before a holistic touch treatment, caffeine can actually work against the kind of calm and regulation we’re aiming for at Enfrighten.

Caffeine actually stimulates the nervous system and increases heart rate, muscle tension, and mental activity.

Holistic bodywork and energy work are best received when the body is in a parasympathetic state.

This means the body reacts better to the work when you are rested, receptive, and able to release.

By avoiding coffee beforehand, you are allowing your system to settle so the treatment can go deeper and the effects last longer. It’s a small choice but helps to support better regulation, awareness, and healing.

Coffee stimulates the nervous system, raising heart rate, muscle tension, and mental activity—basically putting the body into “go mode.” Holistic bodywork and energy work land differently when the nervous system is in a parasympathetic state, where the body feels safe enough to soften and let go. What exactly does this mean, to ‘Find your energy?’ 🌀

Energy can be interpreted to many things, but here we’ll refer to it as ‘Spirit’.

You know those days where you have to really dig down in order to find a smile and get through it.  

Or those times you find yourself taking those deep breaths before you head into a room full of people, when all you want to do is be tucked up in the warmth of your home.

Sometimes you just need to overcome an uncomfortable feeling, and then you’re rollin’.

But other times, this discomfort spirals into all sorts of bad habits.

Phone usage increases, junk food creeping in, laziness is appearing. You’re even getting into these silly arguments you otherwise wouldn’t be in. You know this isn’t really you. But for whatever stressful reasons - your energy is low.

It’s easier to find the quick fixes and instant reliefs rather than doing what’s good for your spirit. You’re body’s just craving to ‘feel good’ and doesn’t see the point in doing anything else than to feed it this mental, emotional and physical junk.

At Enfrighten, our treatments are all about reconnecting you with this spirit. This energy within you which automatically does what’s good for you. Finding that ‘feel good’ within.
