Such an accomplishment for all those involved! Over the Rainbow - Beauty by Shanice Professional Salon Training Ltd Community wellbeing and education CIC
Over the past eight months, HMP & YOI Polmont’s VT Hairdressing Instructor, Emma, worked in partnership with Carol and Shanice from Community wellbeing and education CIC to deliver a beauty training programme for women in our care.
The course focused on practical and theoretical learning, giving participants the opportunity to achieve SVQ levels 2 and 5 in nail services (including gel polish and nail art), and natural eyebrow enhancements. The marks for all of their final assessments were between 97-100%, which is an incredible achievement.
These professional qualifications will help the women to improve their employment prospects when they are released.
One participant said: “I found new skills I didn’t even know I had or could even do. This is the first SVQ I’ve got in my life.”
Another said: “I have really enjoyed learning new skills. It has built my confidence up and given me hope for being able to have a good career when I get out of prison.”
