Knowing what’s wrong is half the battle

This client came in not really sure what was going on - just knew something wasn’t right.

We spent time talking through everything first.
What had been hurting.
What had helped.
What hadn’t.

Then we came up with a plan that actually felt doable.
Because recovery shouldn’t feel overwhelming - it should feel achievable.

Now they’ve got a clear idea of what’s going on, and a path forward.

👉 If you’ve been unsure what’s behind your aches or pains, drop me a message and I’ll send you my availability.

“I’m worried it’ll hurt.”

Fair question - and one I get a lot.

You see videos on social media where therapists go in hard - elbows, grimaces, people jumping off the table - all for the reaction.
But that’s not what I’m there to do.
That doesn’t help, and it definitely doesn’t make you feel better.

Soft tissue therapy isn’t about seeing how much pressure you can handle.
It’s about getting results without making you tense up or dread the next move.

Yes, sometimes you’ll feel a bit of pressure, but it should never be painful.
You should still be able to breathe normally and relax into it.

If something feels too much, we adjust. Simple as that.

You’re always in control of the session - not me, not the treatment plan, you.

👉 Message “INFO” if you’ve been putting it off because you’re worried it’ll hurt.

If you stand all day for work, read this.

Builders. Hairdressers. Nurses. Teachers. Retail.

Anyone on their feet all day knows that ache by the time you get home - calves on fire, back tight, feet sore.

It’s not just “getting older.” It’s your body asking for support.
Those small postural tweaks, the weight shifts, the uneven surfaces - they add up.

Massage helps, sure. But so does strength work.
Getting your glutes, hips, and calves doing their job properly again.

You’ll notice it the most at the end of a long day when you don’t feel wrecked.

👉 If that sounds good, message me and let’s get you back feeling human again.

Why Poltimore

Poltimore means a lot to me.
I’ve trained on the farm here for the last 4 years (photo featuring some of the best gym friends a girl could ask for)
I even picked up my dog from the farm 5 years ago (swipe for baby Yogi. Also I know it’s an outrage he only got second in most handsome dog at the Poltimore fete dog show)

It’s become a bit of a second home.

That’s one of the reasons I chose to set up CH Massage and Rehab here.

The environment is peaceful (minus the noise of the farm and pigs).
It’s easy to get to.
And there’s plenty of free parking.

I think that matters.

Because recovery isn’t just what happens on the treatment table - it’s the whole experience.

When people come here, they can switch off before their appointment even starts.

When work takes its toll on your body

Long hours on your feet.
Heavy lifting.
Awkward positions all day.

It all adds up — and your legs, knees and lower back usually take the hit first.

This client came in after spotting me on Instagram.
We went through what had been going on, treated the tight spots, and finished up with a few simple stretches to take the pressure off their calves.

They left feeling lighter, looser, and ready to get back to work without that constant ache.

👉 If your job is leaving your body feeling the same way, drop me a message and I’ll send you my availability.

“Massage is just for athletes, not for me.”

Not true.

Yes, I treat runners, lifters, cyclists.
But I also treat desk workers with tight shoulders.
Parents with aching backs.
Tradespeople with stiff necks.

If you move, sit, train, or just live life in Exeter or East Devon… soft tissue therapy can help.

It’s not about being an athlete.
It’s about feeling better in your body, whatever you do.

3 mistakes people make with “tight” hamstrings

Think your hamstrings are tight?
Here are the 3 biggest mistakes I see in Exeter and East Devon when people try to “fix” them:

1. Stretching, stretching, stretching. If you’ve stretched them for months and they still feel tight, stretching isn’t the answer.

2. Ignoring the hips. A lot of hamstring issues actually start with hip mobility - or lack of it.

3.Skipping strength. Weak hamstrings often feel tight. They need to get stronger, not just longer.

So if your hamstrings always feel tight, don’t just keep stretching. Look at the bigger picture.

It’s always a good feeling when someone walks out of their first appointment already looking forward to the next one.

This client came in with a few ongoing issues.
We spent time talking through what was going on, then worked on the areas that were holding them back.

Sometimes, just being listened to properly makes a huge difference.

And when the treatment clicks for you straight away, that’s when the real progress starts.

👉 If you’ve been putting off getting something sorted, drop me a message and I’ll send you my availability.

Totally get it. Life’s busy.

But here’s the thing… being in pain takes time too.
It slows you down at work.
It holds you back in training.
It chips away at your energy every single day.

An appointment isn’t “losing time.”
It’s getting your time back.

👉 Message me “INFO” if you want to see how easy it is to fit in.

If you’ve ever been told to just ‘rest’ after an injury, this will help
One of the things I see most often?

People told to stop completely.
Rest. Do nothing. Wait for it to heal.

And here’s the thing - that usually makes recovery longer.

I’m a big believer in keeping active people active.
If you’re injured, there’s nearly always a way to adapt.
Train around it. Work on other areas. Stay moving safely.

Because if sport, training, or activity is part of your identity, taking it away does more harm than good. Mentally and physically.

So next time you’re told to rest completely, ask: is there a way I can adapt instead?

👉 Do you agree, or do you feel safer with full rest?
