We have been taught to believe that fitness only works if it hurts.

“No pain, no gain.”

Push harder. Do more. Never stop.

But that approach is exactly why you stop and start all the time.

Halfway Through ESCAPE‑pain 💪”

ESCAPE‑pain =

Enabling Self‑management and Coping with Arthritic Pain using Exercise.

3 weeks ago our hip & knee arthritis group started their journey.
10 older adults… cautious, wary, in pain, scared to move.

If it’s done the right way

Yes you should diet for a holiday

06/05/2026

“don’t diet for holidays”.

It’s got to be a lifestyle

I get where it’s coming from and at the right time this is a good approach

But that’s exactly how I started.

Wanting to look good on holidays

It’s not a bad thing.
It gave me a reason to show up.
It gave me momentum.
It taught me discipline.

Most importantly — it helped me build a better relationship with food.

The goal isn’t the problem
The approach is.

Set a goal.
Get excited about the challenge.
Push yourself in a healthy way.

Do it right…
and it can change your confidence, your habits, and your life — just like it did for me.

I’ve kept that weight off now for 13 years

One small session can change your entire day.

Most of the time, the last thing you want to do…
is the exact thing that will make you feel better — exercise for me.

You start with a million and one things to do,
head all over the shop,
no focus, no clarity, feeling pulled everywhere.

But you finish with:
“Right… let’s take on the day.”

Your mood is better.
You feel energised.
You’re more focused.
Your head feels less cluttered.
Everything becomes easier.

20–30 minutes.
That’s all it takes to shift your whole day in the right direction.

It’s not about where you start.

It’s about where you can be in 6 months’ time with the right approach.

I get why most people go in hard at the beginning.
“No pain, no gain.”
Push more. Sweat more. Do everything at once.
It feels like the quickest way to get results.

But starting hard usually leads to stopping early.
You’re sore.
You’re exhausted.
Life gets busy.
Old injuries flare up.
Motivation drops.
And you end up right back at the beginning.

Less at the start leads to more later.
Because you can actually stick to it.
You build confidence.
You build routine.
You build momentum.
And that’s what creates long‑term change.

If you want the next 6 months to look different from the last 6, start smaller than you think… and stay consistent.

DM me “START” and I’ll help you build something you can actually stick to.

How I used to exercise…

THEN:

• 2‑hour gym sessions
• 6 days a week
• Chasing calories burned
• “No pain, no gain”
• Sore for days
• Lasted 2 weeks… then stopped

NOW:

• 3 sessions a week
• 30 minutes
• Quality over quantity
• Clear goal
• Clear plan
• Simple progression
• Still going 10+ years

Less time.
Less stress.
Better results.
Because I can actually stick to it.
