DO THE THING!!! The thing you would tell your best friend to do when life is getting a lot. You are your best friend.

I know, life can get so busy, can’t it? But we need to take our own advice.

We are almost always rushing from one thing to the next, letting our mind spiral into all the things we need to do, can’t do, would like to do - and it becomes so easy to forget to take a moment for ourselves. Even though it would be the first thing we tell a friend, loved one or colleague to do.

But here’s the thing: carving out time for mind, body and soul restoration is CRUCIAL for our well-being and being able to turn up in the world and for our loved ones as our best self.

It doesn’t have to be retreat weekends, although, our upcoming one will be pretty magical 😉 but these mini moments of rejuvenation can take as little as a few minutes of shut eye and focusing on the inhales/exhales, or 20-30 minutes walking outdoors or taking a bath.

You can fit it in - press pause on the busy thoughts and press play on prioritising yourself. I promise, the stress will float off the shoulders when you prioritise these practices, even amongst the hustle.

Thank me later, bye 💞🫶🏻

Are you striking the right balance? ⚖️

In life we can often become unbalanced in our priorities. This can be seen with our work or home life split, our eating habits and a multitude of other areas, but especially so in our self-care habits, if we have any at all.

You know as well as I do that self-care can quickly get pushed to the bottom of that never ending ‘to-do’ list that we all have.

The mind, body and soul are all all parts of us that make us whole. I saw this great quote earlier that shared about 3 daily wins: the mental, physical and spiritual.

~ your mind
1. Pick up a good book
2. Turn off your devices for 15-60 minutes
3. Mindfulness - be present in the moment, take stock.
4. Meditate a little - close your eyes, focus on your breath and just notice the thoughts that enter your mind without getting carried away in the story, view them as clouds passing by the sky.

~ your body
1. Movement - go for a walk, stretch or workout even for 10 minutes
2. Focus on your breathing for 60 seconds
3. Eat a healthy snack, re-fuel and keep that blood sugar stable
4. Take a nap (after a Sunday roast, even better) 😍

- your soul
1. Write, whether you enjoy to write or whether it is a brain dump, get something on paper.
2. Gratitude, take stock of all the wonderful things you have in your life.
3. Savour / Create your own calming ritual - even if that is your first cup in the morning, or a skincare ritual at night. Simple, unrushed moments especially at the start and end of the day can really soothe the soul.
4. Connect with those you love - in any way you can, a message, call or visit. If not someone you love, smile at a stranger and feel your heart fill 🥰

As the beautiful Francesca from reminded us on Friday, “nobody is more worthy than your time” than you. Caring for yourself helps us grow and bring light into the world in a way that we can’t if you are feeling depleted and low.

So what do you need to prioritise? Which area needs a little more love and nurture this week?

It really is that simple. A smile is all it takes.

Research has shown that even at times of emotional dysregulation or those down days or frustrating moments, physically smiling (even when you feel no reason to) can boost your mood and shift the energy.

Smiling triggers the release of endorphins and serotonin, which promotes a positive mood and reduces stress. This has been supported by various studies on the neurochemistry of happiness…

Plus everyone’s smile is beautiful and worth seeing. Be the reason someone else smiles today, by using yours ☺️

So come on, try a smile and see the difference it makes - to you and to someone else ✨
