Using data we can show the potential for waste and society. Empowering a new generation with stewardship and shaping attitudes towards waste. The Artcycle Materials Bank (AMB) is the static half of BYE’s community based initiative. As a community based ‘bank’, the AMB will provide many benefits to various members of Any community mainly in the form of arts, entertainment, and employment. We cannot do this alone but we feel it is a project that will garner much support from a grassroots level right on up to the governmental level and as a charitable project, our aim is to give far more to the community than we receive from it. The AMB functions as one half of BYE’s dynamic recycling education system; the other half, a traveling recycling roadshow is the visible half to the AMB’s support half and the two sides are mated in Be Your Environment’s Build Your Education. The two come together to form an innovative recycling education system that has art as its main focus. As a combination of art and recycling education, Build Your Education’s resources are derived exclusively from recycled materials and in order to stockpile these resources, the AMB has been created. The Artcycle Materials Bank functions similar to a normal bank in that the more put into it, the more that will be available to be withdrawn. The AMB is so much more than a traditional bank, however; it will not be limited to deposits and withdrawals but serves many functions within the community. Deposits into the AMB will look more like a transaction at a store rather than a traditional bank as we believe in rewarding the customer for bestowing upon us a valuable material. This is where our swap shop comes in and it will be adorned with several incentives ranging from low cost to a bit more elaborate. The currency here is exclusively bags of clean separated recyclables and each has a value, as does each of the shops items; save up for the larger items or spend to your hearts content on the smaller ones, the currency is in no danger of fading. The swap shop is focused towards individuals but there will be a few types of deposits: Individual households are the prime targets for deposit as they have many of the resources that as rubbish artists, we crave. We will take nearly any household waste with one caveat: it needs to be separated. Commercial deposits will be our other main source of materials. Any excess materials that are traditionally discarded can be saved and turned from a detriment in a landfill into the backbone of an amazing piece of art. This can range from unused timber, to different types of metal, to car tires, to unused paint, to anything that captures the imagination!
