My name is Adrian Yeoman, I have been helping people in chronic pain for over 40 years and have tried many approaches in my efforts to help my patients; exercise, electrotherapy, mobilisation techniques and acupuncture to name a few, most of which have provided only limited benefit. Following the science I have discovered the profound benefits of mind-body approaches with chronic pain, and trained with SIRPA, a UK training organisation. For details I recommend you check out the SIRPA website at https://www.sirpa.org. Here is a summary from this site.
"SIRPA’s approach involves an educational, evidence-based and self-empowering approach to help individuals identify and acknowledge the underlying causes of their chronic pain while also developing healthier neural pathways that allow a pain free, healthy life.
Our treatment approach focuses on four main areas: Education, Emotions, Behaviour and Lifestyle. All of these play a significant role in enabling individuals to become more stress resilient, emotionally aware and able to live a healthier, active life moving forwards."
Combining these skills with my 40 years experience as a physiotherapist and with hypnotherapy I have been able to significantly reduce long lasting pain which has over-stayed its usefulness. I have a special interest in those patients who feel abandoned by the the medical community and are tired from the continuous search for the cause of their pain, for example, from damaged structures such as disc prolapses or trapped nerves. There is now a lot of evidence that abnormal findings on MRI scans are commonly found in people without pain. For example
50% at age 40 had a disc bulge and 69% at 60. See end of post for more detail.

I understand that the symptoms you are having are REAL and that they are NOT in your head. This is often the impression you can be given by doctors when no significant structural problem is found on scans. There are many painful conditions for which often no structural cause can be found but are very real, for example:
Tension Headaches, Neck Pain, Back Pain, Whiplash, Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic abdominal or pelvic pain.
These symptoms that are often both chronic and seemingly medically inexplicable. People can feel poorly understood and find it difficult to receive treatment. It is well documented that pain, the experiences of an individual and the level of coping with pain, have an emotional component. My aim is to help people make the connection between the body and the mind (in fact to realise there is no separation), I use the experience of 40 years as a physiotherapist, and my skills as a hypnotherapist together with my knowledge of psychology to help people understand how the brain and central nervous system can adapt to cause long-term pain. I enable people make the connection between life experiences (some obvious some less so), stress levels and the way we think about the pain and how these adaptive changes can occur. These conditions respond very well and often quickly to this approach. I am a spinal specialist and am most familiar treating pain associated with spinal conditions but am happy to help with non spinal pain conditions as the approach is similar. Many pain conditions are a blend of a physical structural problem amplified by emotions such as anxiety and fear. Other conditions such as migraine headaches can have both hormonal and emotional components.
Patients can self-refer or be referred by their GP, usually with pain lasting for longer than 3 months. It is best if the problem has been thoroughly investigated to exclude a physical cause for the symptoms. I suggest you arrange free telephone consultation to find out if I will be able to help.
One of the great advantages of this approach is that I am able to help people online via Zoom, so it doesn't matter where you live. I am more than happy to have a chat with you so contact me for a free initial consultation to find out if I can help.
