Hi, I’m Georgette — a freelance Registered Dietitian & Nutritionist, HCPC-registered and a member of the BDA. Hi, I’m Georgette, a Registered Dietitian with over a decade of experience helping people feel their best through evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle guidance.

Since qualifying in 2013, I’ve worked across the NHS, media, and private practice, supporting individuals and communities to make realistic, sustainable changes that truly make a difference.

At My Own Dietitian, my mission is simple — to empower you to thrive through credible knowledge, balanced habits, and a deeper connection to yourself and nature. 🌱

Whether you’re seeking personalised consultations, fresh inspiration from my Ground and Glow newsletter and blog, or just a friendly place to learn more about nutrition — you’re in the right spot.

And because life isn’t all about kale and quinoa… I’m also a mum and grandma navigating the joys of family life through all the ages — from sisters, partners, and friends embracing midlife, to daughters in their 20s, growing grandchildren keeping me on my toes, and my mum approaching her 80s. Add in a Shih Tzu or two (or four!) and an elderly cat, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for balance, laughter, and a lot of love. 🐾

✨ I make health and wellness achievable, enjoyable, and uniquely yours.

You can connect with me through my website contact form, or by signing up to my newsletter: www.myowndietitian.co.uk, or by following me on social media.

O is for Own It — empowerment starts now!

Owning your health is about empowerment, not perfection. It’s about understanding your body, embracing small, sustainable changes, and feeling confident in your choices.

Every meal, every movement, every mindful decision adds up, because the wellbeing you want tomorrow begins with the choices you make today.

At My Own Dietitian, I help you build trust in your own knowledge, translating the science of nutrition into practical, everyday habits that work for your lifestyle. We’ll turn confusion into clarity, restriction into balance, and information into action.

It’s not about an all-or-nothing approach; it’s about taking ownership and changing one choice at a time. The heart health, brain health, and energy you’ll enjoy later in life are being shaped right now by what you do each day.

Because when you own your journey, you don’t just survive; you thrive. ✨

D is for "Dietitian"!

What do dietitians actually do and why should you care? At My Own Dietitian, it’s more than counting calories or cutting foods. My name's Georgette Alayyan and here’s what I bring to the table:

As a registered dietitian, I work from evidence-based science and use nutrition + lifestyle as tools to help you feel radiant, inside and out.

I meet you where you are, whether you’re juggling mid-life changes, health issues, or anything in between. Your body, your timeline, your goals.

My role is to translate complex nutrition science into practical, sustainable habits that fit your life — so health isn’t just something you think about, it’s something you live.

I help with what many confuse as “just diet” but which is in fact total wellbeing: from everyday food choices to sleep, stress, movement, and connection with nature.

As part of my service you’ll get personalised support, not one-size-fits-all advice, because one approach rarely fits all.

✨ Think of me as your nutrition ally: one you can trust, one who can show you what the research says and help you apply it to your unique life.

👉 Want to explore more? Book a private consultation or grab my monthly “Ground and Glow” newsletter (because knowledge + community = power).

🧴 Let’s talk about vitamin D supplements...

I’ve just read a Which? investigation that found some vitamin D supplements sold online contain up to 12.5 times the safe upper limit. That’s a huge concern — because taking too much vitamin D can cause dangerously high calcium levels, which may affect your kidneys and overall health.

I always encourage my clients to be cautious when buying supplements, especially from online marketplaces. The label isn’t always the whole story — and more isn’t always better when it comes to vitamins.

It’s worth remembering that in the UK, most of us are advised to take a daily vitamin D supplement between October and March, when we don’t get enough sunlight to make it naturally. But choosing the right dose — and a trustworthy product — really matters.

If you’re taking (or thinking about taking) a vitamin D supplement, I’ve written a blog post that walks you through how to do it safely and effectively. You can read it here 👇

It’s Eating Disorders Awareness Week and it’s estimated that approximately 1.25 million people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder.

The good news is that recovery is possible and having the right support from friends, family and work colleagues is an important step.

If you aren’t sure what to say, remember that just being there to listen makes a big difference.

The below blog article gives a helpful insight into breaking down stereotypes of who lives with an eating disorder (ED) and suggests some helpful conversation ice-breakers to ‘create a tiny crack between the ED and your friend. With support, it’s a crack that can widen and let the sunlight and fresh air flood in’.

MARCH HABIT TRACKER

We have decided to continue doing our monthly habit trackers! If you're new around here, this is something we started in January to track up to 3 monthly habits - but you can of course just choose 1. They can be habits you're currently working on or something completely new but we've found having them written down somewhere for us to tick off helps keep us accountable.

Some examples of habits could be:
💧 drinking a glass of water with every tea/coffee
🤸‍♀️ 30 minutes of movement everyday
📖 10 pages of reading every day

You can download yours for FREE here: http://bit.ly/march-habit-tracker and then edit it straight on your laptop/computer of print it off and stick it to your fridge or keep it on your desk etc. Whatever works for you!

What would you like to work towards this month?
