1 YEAR WITH GFC 🄳🧔

One year with GFC Athlete and honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Coach Ginge’s coaching and mentoring have been next level – not just in programming, but in the support, accountability and belief he brings every single week. He knows exactly when to push you and when to keep you grounded.

In the past 12 months I’ve taken part in 4 HYROX events:

• HYROX Ladies Singles SIM – 1:44:47
• HYROX Ladies Singles London Excel – 1:29:40
• HYROX Mixed Doubles London Olympia – 1:19:17
• HYROX Ladies Singles Cardiff – 1:28:09 (+1 extra lap, apparently I cant run and count)

I’ve also completed the CrossFit Open and competed in multiple in-house gym competitions – all things I wouldn’t have had the confidence to do before.

This year hasn’t been without its challenges. I’ve faced unexpected job changes and navigated perimenopause, which has had a huge impact on both my physical and mental health. Through all of this, having the structure, support and understanding from Ginge has made such a difference and kept me moving forward.

All while still living a normal life and keeping up with the challenges of being a single mum to my gorgeous boy (my No.1 supporter in the gym) and my gorgeous furry boy (my No.1 therapist 🐾).

With pushing your body, there are always going to be niggles and pains. I had a period of lower back pain, tight hamstrings and glutes, and was really struggling with discomfort. With Ginge’s guidance and knowledge, he suggested I visit the GFC physiotherapist to get to the root of the issue. As it turned out, my muscles were tightening and pinching on nerves, causing the pain. After just one week of adjusted training and two physiotherapy sessions, I was back to normal like nothing had happened.

Now onto the next chapter – transitioning more into CrossFit. With my personal GFC programme, Ginge knows my strengths, my weaknesses, and exactly where I need to improve to reach that next level.

We’re always striving to offer a wide range of coaching opportunities and we’re incredibly excited to welcome Martinique to the team.

She brings a huge depth of knowledge and experience, and we know she’s going to add massive value to both our community and our athletes.

Her journey to this point hasn’t been easy, but she’s used every challenge as an opportunity to grow, develop and become stronger. Now, she’s in a position where she’s ready to help so many others do the same and that’s exactly what GFC is all about! A long standing member of the community and now part of the team 🧔

Here’s her journey so far:

ā€œI didn’t get into coaching because it looked fun on Instagram.
I got into it because I had to become the coach i didn’t have.

At 23, I had a hysterectomy and was thrown straight into menopause.
And honestly… I felt lost in my own body.
No one prepared me for what was happening.
No one could tell me how to train, how to feel better, how to feel like me again.

So I figured it out myself and that’s where this all started.

I went deep into menopause health and fitness because I needed answers, not just for my clients, but for me And the more I learned, the more I realised… women are being completely overlooked when it comes to training.

So I expanded.
Pre & postnatal.
Women’s performance.
Real coaching for real bodies going through real things.

Now I’ve been coaching for 6+ years, working with women all over the world and it’s not just about the right workouts.
It’s about giving women their confidence back.

I’ve helped women in menopause lose body fat, build muscle and actually feel good again, not just lighter, but stronger, more confident, more in control And I get it, because I live it too. The fatigue, the frustration, the plateaus… I’ve been there. I still navigate it.

From 82kg to 70kg in 4 months, but more importantly, feeling stronger, healthier and more confident than ever. This is what it’s all about.

This didn’t come from starving or doing anything extreme… it came from fixing the small things daily. For a period of time, not just 2 weeks!
Showing up.
