What makes your heart sing? What gives you that deep sense of joy from the inside out?

For me, it's moments like these - a Sunday morning spent with lovely people sharing something very special. Even though we do it regularly, it still feels special and exhilarating every time.

I can't quite describe in words what a difference doing this regularly has done to my wellbeing in the past 2 months. I know all the benefits of regular sauna having grown up with a sauna in my childhood home back in Finland, but I didnt quite anticipate quite what a huge impact this has had for me both physically and mentally. And I've always been a water baby from a young age so being able to do this near my home here in Wales has been incredible.

Thank you for great löyly again today!

Ps. My collaboration sessions, aamusauna and saunarauha with Niku Naku coming soon! More info to follow 🥰

It was not love at first sight!

I went to my first yin yoga class over 15 years ago by accident. I got stuck in traffic and missed my usual dynamic class at the studio where I attended classes at the time. The class that was on next was something strange called yin yoga.

I didn't know exactly what it was. I certainly wasn't ready for what was to come. As I was in a very yang phase in my life, my body really didn't know what to think of the practice - it was very confused. But something shifted, something deep within. And there was an inner knowing, an inner whisper that asked me to stick with it.

And I'm so glad I did. It soon it became my saviour, my support pillar and everything changed.

It changed the way I approached my practice and the benefits from the practice extended far beyond the yoga mat.

After I trained as a yoga teacher, I enjoyed many extra training courses on yin yoga and meridian theory learning from different teachers.

This is a practice I could not be without and as a teacher it's so enjoyable because it allows me to be creative - because it gives space and time for creativity.

Have you tried yin yoga?

Here is how you can practice yin yoga with me:
💚 weekly class online on Thursday evenings 19:00-20:00
💚 monthly workshop online on a Sunday evening 18:00-19:30 - next one is 1st March.
💚 regular in person yin yoga workshops at my cosy studio at near Meifod.

Did you know I'm an environmental scientist?

A memory popped up today in my photos about sending in my resignation letter after over a decade of working in the field of environmental protection.

I didn't hate my job, but towards the latter years of my career, I didn't feel like I was making a real difference. Or any difference at all, in fact.

And making a difference means a lot to me.

So now I share this aspect of environmental protection through education - by inviting a connection with the nature around us, the seasons and self.

We are inherently part of nature and the energy of nature is also within us.

Once we connect, we want to care. Deeply.

You can't solve the world's problems, but you can make a real difference in your community, in your immediate environment and this is what makes the biggest difference.

What is the one thing in nature that you want to protect? What matters most to you?

Ps. Hyvää ystävänpäivää/ Happy friends day 💕

Have you noticed glimmers in the midst of greyness?

It can be challenging to notice the little things that bring hope or joy when things are grey and difficult. But it's a practice that has really helped shift how I feel during difficult times, even if just for a moment.

Remember that this too shall pass and brighter days are always there.

Have you noticed those little glimmers in the shift in the seasons recently? What are your recent glimmers? I'd love to hear in the comments.

Ps. Sunshine promised for Saturday - go soak it up!

Hello and a warm welcome to all my new followers - thank you for being part of my wellbeing journey. My passion is to help you feel well from the inside out and connected with yourself and with the seasons. My approach is gentle and nervous system friendly.

On the 14th of February in my native Finland we celebrate Friendship Day (Ystävänpäivä) instead of valentines day. It is a great way to honour and nurture the friendships we have in our lives and also the relationship we have with ourselves.

I have a special offer this year to celebrate friendship by giving your friend a gift of wellbeing: ny joining the Home Retreat membership you can bring a friend for free for 30 days. Plus you get 7 day free trial too!

My online Home Retreat membership is a flexible and accessible place for all things wellbeing. With over 100 practice videos (and new added regularly), the space offers practices from short 10 minute videos to hour long practices which you can do anytime from the comfort of your home (or when you are on holiday). The practices range from acupressure tutorials to flow yoga, somatics, yin yoga, meditation, yoga nidra and qigong – something for everyone.

Did you know that during my yin yoga classes and workshops you'll learn about acupressure points to support your wellbeing?

Acupressure is a powerful and safe way to support your wellbeing physically, energetically and emotionally. It offers a great way to support yourself in a way that is accessible and easy to do.

Each season has its own energetics, which links to functions in the body - physically and energetically. What I love about acupressure the most is that it looks at the wholeness of this rather than just trying to 'fix' something specific. It digs deeper and helps heal us from the inside out and on so many layers.

In each yin yoga session we focus on one or two points. You will learn the location of the point and press it gently before settling into a yin or restorative pose allowing the effect of the self massage to really land.

Want to learn more?
My next yin yoga workshop takes place this Sunday 8th February 18:00-19:30 online from the comfort of your home. A lovely way to cosy up, pause and connect with the seasonal energy.

Book your space at www.anjayoga.co.uk/yin-yoga or join as a Home Retreat member for £14 per month, which includes this monthly class alongside other member benefits. https://members.anjayoga.co.uk/

You can also join for a weekly yin fix every Thursday 19:00-20:00 online: www.anjayoga.co.uk/classes
