Had a lovely lady in yesterday whose a PT and currently doing a degree on the science on fitness and exercise or on that nature if iv got it wrong lol. She has high levels of cortisol as she constantly on the go and pushing herself to the max sound familiar to any of you.
She had an emotional release after the treatment was done not just cos she was in pain and relieved it was over but we feel she had stored alot of trauma in her legs.
Sooooo...
Yes, you can store the physical sensations and energy of trauma in your legs, leading to muscle tension, pain, and other physical symptoms, particularly in the psoas muscle and hip flexors. Through stress responses like "fight, flight, or freeze," the body can lock down this "trapped energy," which can then be released through somatic therapies like yoga, movement, and conscious breathwork.
How Trauma Is Stored in the Legs
• Fight, Flight, or Freeze Response:
When you experience a traumatic event, your body's survival instinct triggers a response to either fight the threat, flee from it, or freeze in a state of paralysis.
• Muscle Contraction:
During a "freeze" response, muscles, especially the psoas muscles which run from the spine to the hips and down the legs, contract and lock in a protective state.
• Tension and Pain:
This contraction and "trapped energy" can manifest as physical symptoms such as low back pain, pelvic pain, and even overactive quadriceps muscles.
• Emotional Energy:
The energy of the intense emotion associated with the trauma can become trapped in the body, leading to chronic stress, anxiety, or even depression.
By breaking this down it can also smoothen the appearance of any bumpy appearances in legs too that may have been stored in legs and hips.
