This our Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust staff were given the opportunity to take part in additional Mindful Origami sessions led by Dr Lizzie Burns of Origami Pulse. These sessions offer a calm and creative pause in the working day, helping participants to refocus, unwind, and manage stress โ€” and theyโ€™ve received fantastic feedback from staff across the organisation.

We recently caught up with Lizzie to learn more about the practice of origami and its powerful role in stress management and wellbeing. We also spoke about her wider work with Origami Pulse, including the moving โ€œFrom the Heart: Creativity and Resilience for Southportโ€ sessions delivered alongside coโ€‘founder and close friend Zulay Sayalero. Developed in the wake of the tragic events that deeply affected the Southport community, the project aims to bring hope, connection, and healing through their shared passion for origami.

Taking on a skydiving challenge during Mental Health Awareness Week is a powerful way to show that facing fears and building resilience can have a lasting impact. The funds raised will support the extras that make such a difference to patients and service users across Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, helping them feel cared for beyond NHS funding and supporting their wellbeing throughout treatment, recovery and beyond.

These are the items just created in an origami workshop to support NHS staff during !

Last year our charity teamed up with Origami Pulse and our Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service for a project to deliver monthly mindful origami sessions to staff. The sessions offer a moment of pause during busy working days and offer an enjoyable way to destress and focus the mind.

Led by Dr. Lizzie Burns, the sessions have been hugely beneficial with wonderful feedback from staff โ€” and some gorgeous creations made!

During Stress Awareness Month Lizzie is putting on additional sessions each week thanks to National Lottery Community Fund funding, so more people have the opportunity to sample the many benefits of paper folding ๐Ÿ’œ
