Composite bonding is a fantastic way to assess the appearance, but also to establish if there will be any changes to patients speech patterns, or if the teeth will be damaged by any type of tooth grinding.
In this case we wanted to assess everything.... the patient just wanted a nicer smile, and who can blame them?
Our worry was the way these teeth have worn. The angled edges to the two front teeth was not due to trauma but nocturnal bruxism (tooth grinding), and our worry was simple: Will she grind the teeth down again if we built them up?
The broken down tooth had snapped at near gum level, partly because it was heavily filled, and partly because of the grinding.
In 60-90 days we will review the patient and assess how things are going. If she is happy we may leave things as they are. If the composites are chipping we know something is awry.
Sadly there are two (maybe three) clear flaws with this bond up.... can you spot them?
Hopefully she will forgive me 🤞
