When words aren’t enough 🔇

Communication does not look the same for everyone. Some neurodivergent people may need written information, extra time to think, or different ways to share their views.

Improving accessible communication helps strengthen shared decision-making and improves experiences of care.

What you can do:
• Check understanding
• Offer information in different formats
• Allow extra time
• Listen without interrupting

Better communication leads to better experiences.

As children move into the Tween years (9–12), their understanding of death becomes much deeper.

They begin to understand that death is permanent and affects everyone.
They may start thinking about bigger questions — about life, loss, and what it all means.

But with this deeper understanding can come more complex emotions, quieter worries, and thoughts they don’t always share out loud.

For parents, this stage can feel harder to read.

In this post from The Grief Series, we’re exploring how Tweens understand death — and how to support them when their thoughts and feelings become more complex.
