Had another wonderful class this week. We did a deep dive into surya namaskar, looking in-depth into each posture and improving our alignment. Even had a little time after our class to practise some balances. It’s so wonderful to be teaching yoga again. A big thank you to for making it happen. I’m really looking forward to next weeks class and I can announce a new weekly pranayama class on Friday at 19:00 more information to follow.

I am very excited to be launching my weekly pranayama class beginning on the 5th of May at Soul Barns. The class will start at 19:00 every Friday and last 1 hour. We will begin with some gentle asana (postures) to prepare our bodies for an extended time seated, then we will explore various pranayama techniques starting with the very basics of yogic breathing. Each session will close with an extended guided meditation to finish the practice with a moment of stillness.

Some of the benefits of pranayama include but are not limited too -

⭐️ Strengthening the respiratory system and increasing lung capacity.
⭐️ Increasing GABA (a neurotransmitter) which is your natural ‘chill pill’.
⭐️ Helps relieve symptoms of chronic stress.
⭐️ Can help improve sleep quality and insomnia.
⭐️ Improves your parasympathetic nervous system, calming the ‘fight or flight’ response.

For the session, you will need a yoga mat, block or cushion for sitting and perhaps a blanket or large hoodie for the guided meditation as your body will cool during this practice. However, I have a few spare if you don’t have a mat or block.

If this class time isn’t suitable for you I also have a Monday evening Hatha Yoga class that happens at Soul Barns every Monday at 18:30. Additionally, depending on the popularity of this class I will look into other possible times for weekly sessions.

Each week we will learn a new technique of the ancient pranayama practice and will continuously revisit what we’ve already learned to build a solid foundation for our practice. This means you won’t have to attend every session if you are busy for one week but it is always better to be consistent with pranayama practice.

We practised the traditional Hatha Surya Namaskar during the class, developed our understanding and alignment in some core asana and ended with a deep meditation in savasana.soulbarns located in Mortimer. Every Monday from 18:30 to 19:30 you can come and expanding your knowledge of asana with an alignment-focused beginner to intermediate class.

During the class we practised the traditional Hatha Surya Namaskar, developed our understanding and alignment in some core asana and ended with a deep meditation in savasana.

Hello, I’m very excited to announce my new Hatha Yoga Class taking place every Monday evening at 18:30 at Soul Barns, Mortimer.

Hatha Yoga is a traditional practice that places emphasis on each individual Asana (pose) and a stronger relationship with breathing.

For those of you who don’t know about me, I’m a 500hr qualified RYT yoga teacher. I studied in the Kathmandu Valley under Dr Chintamani Gautam and have taught in Nepal, Thailand and Mexico. I’m passionate about passing on the knowledge I’ve gained over my 8 years of practice.

Hatha Yoga is for everyone, regardless of fitness level or flexibility. It’s about becoming more in tune with your body and finding a balance between effort and relaxation.

On Sunday 16th April, I will be at the Soul Barns Open Day teaching a Pranayama taster session which uses the power of prana (breath) to bring peace and stillness into your day-to-day living.

The following day (17th April) is the first of my weekly Hatha classes every Monday at 18:30.
