Space to breathe.
Space to feel.
Space to come back to yourself.

In just one session, many clients experience a noticeable shift—less mental noise, a calmer body, and a renewed sense of clarity. The effects can linger for days, helping you feel more grounded and centred in your everyday life.

Because Reiki is gentle and non-invasive, it’s suitable for almost everyone and can be used alongside other treatments or wellness practices.

As winter slowly melts into spring, nature begins to shift — but the body doesn’t always change overnight. In Ayurveda, this transition sits within Kapha season, a time characterised by heaviness, moisture, and accumulation. Just as the earth is still damp and dense from winter, our bodies and minds can carry that same quality.

Late winter often brings a certain weight with it — in the air, in the body, and in our energy.

You might notice feeling:
• sluggish or low in motivation
• heavy after meals
• foggy or slow to think
• more attached to comfort and routine
• low in energy
• mentally stuck or emotionally flat

If this resonates, it’s important to remember — this isn’t a personal failure. It’s seasonal physiology.

Kapha energy naturally builds through winter and begins to soften and melt as spring approaches. When it accumulates, it can leave us feeling slow, dull, or stagnant. But Kapha itself isn’t something to “fix.” It’s an energy to work with and understand.

This season doesn’t ask for force or extreme change. Instead, it invites gentle movement, warmth, lightness, and space.

Small shifts.
Soft activation.
Subtle circulation.

Think warming foods, steamed green vegetables, and meals that feel lighter and easier to digest. Reducing heavy, oily foods, excess dairy, refined carbs, and sugary foods can help bring balance during this time.

Support the shift with a little more movement too — slightly more vigorous activity that builds warmth and even brings on a light sweat, helping to move stagnation and reawaken energy.

Fresh air, lighter routines, and simple daily practices can gradually help the body transition out of winter’s stillness. 🌿

Spring is the perfect time to reset your body and mind 🌿

After the colder months, a massage can help release winter stiffness, improve circulation, and gently support your body’s natural detox through lymphatic drainage. It can also ease seasonal sinus pressure, increase joint flexibility, and melt away lingering winter fatigue.

As the days get longer and life becomes more active again, taking time for a massage can boost your energy, lift your mood, and leave you feeling refreshed, balanced, and ready to enjoy the season ahead. 🌸

In India, I felt love everywhere. 🤍✨

In the gentle hands of the therapists, bathing the babies.

In the cleaner who quietly rocked and watched over them while their mums received treatments.

In the cook preparing nourishing meals with such care.

In every member of the therapy team moving with calm intention and deep pride in their work.

What touched me most was seeing new mothers arrive hand in hand with their own mums. After birth, many women return home for three months to be deeply cared for — held, nourished, supported — while receiving traditional postpartum treatments designed to restore and strengthen their bodies.

During the 7-day intensive postpartum care, the therapists work tirelessly (I heard the cries from the mums and witnessed the therapists' dedication). Mothers are carefully prepared for the firm, therapeutic pressure used in treatment — pressure that can sometimes leave mild, temporary bruising. In return, they receive profound abdominal support, restored internal balance, and a renewed sense of vitality. It is strong, purposeful work. Deeply traditional. Deeply restorative.

There was no rush. No expectation to “bounce back.” Only community. Only care. Only reverence for this sacred season of life.

Beyond the clinic, love met me everywhere.

A handicapped tuk tuk driver — a patient of the doctors — recognised them and insisted on chauffeuring us around the local shops and sights, refusing payment.

The clinic owner prepared a special Keralan dish just for me.

The cook nourished us daily with such devotion.

And my beautiful clients from Kerala who now live locally made sure I was deeply cared for while I was there, connecting me with their own family and trusted Ayurvedic professionals.

I cannot thank them enough.
Lenu, Alex, Grace and Simon — I am so grateful for your support and concern. 🤍

And while my heart was filled with gratitude, it also felt heavy.
For the mothers and children in Sudan, Congo, and Palestine.
The loss of innocent life is heartbreaking beyond words. They deserve safety. They deserve dignity. They deserve peace.

It reminded me that healing is not meant to be done alone.
It is meant to be witnessed, supported, and wrapped in love. 🤍✨

International Women’s Day began in 1911 as International Working Women’s Day — rooted in women’s organised labour and the call for economic recognition.

Over time, the focus has shifted toward celebration, which is beautiful, and yet it’s also important to remember the original intention: acknowledging women’s work.

So much of the labour that sustains families, communities and economies is unpaid. Caring for children. Supporting partners. Tending to elders. Holding emotional space. Managing homes. This invisible care keeps the world turning.

For years, we were encouraged to “lean in” — to give more, stretch further, and succeed within existing systems. But perhaps there is another way.

Perhaps sometimes the most powerful act is to lean out —
to rest,
to pause,
to recognise the value of care,
and to honour the labour that has always mattered.

Care work is work.
Rest has value.
And both deserve recognition.

Taking time to rest. I hope you’re having the best start to the year. For the first time ever, I slowed down….. No, in fact, I stopped. Rested. Slept. Nourished with fresh, delicious Ayurvedic vegan food. It was the mental and physical detox I needed more than I knew it.

This video I’m sharing is from my trip to India recently— a journey that felt less like a holiday and more like a homecoming to myself. Between the colours, the warmth, the stillness, and the simple daily rituals, I found space to breathe again. No rushing. No deadlines. Just presence.

I welcome the new year grounded, clear, and deeply grateful. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause. ✨

Carrying Om with me 🕉️

On my recent trip to India, I kept the Om symbol close — printed on my bag, walking with me each day. A quiet reminder of something bigger than myself.

Om (or Aum) is known as the primordial sound — the vibration said to resonate with the frequency of the universe. Its symbol represents the different states of consciousness: waking, dreaming, deep sleep… and the dot above, a state of pure awareness and bliss.

For me, it’s a simple but powerful reminder to pause. To breathe. To soften the noise of the mind and return to centre. Chanting or even reflecting on Om can calm the nervous system, ease tension, and create a sense of wholeness — like a reset for the body, mind and spirit.

In a place so deeply rooted in spiritual tradition, carrying this symbol felt grounding. A small daily anchor to presence, peace, and connection. ✨

Healing isn’t loud. It doesn’t rush. It doesn’t force.

It’s the quiet, daily choice to soften toward yourself — to gently return love to the parts of you that learned to shut down in order to survive.

Standing here, surrounded by nature’s power and beauty, I’m reminded that healing happens the same way waterfalls carve rock… slowly, consistently, with patience and grace.

Be tender with yourself. The places that closed are not broken — they’re waiting to feel safe again. 💛✨

We’re often taught that pain means something is wrong with our body.
But that isn’t always true.

Pain is created by the brain as a way to protect us.

Stress, worry, past experiences, and overwhelm can all make the body feel unsafe — and when that happens, pain can increase.

This is why pain and anxiety are so closely connected 🤍

The body doesn’t always know the difference between emotional stress and physical threat.

Sometimes the body is healthy, but the nervous system is stuck in “high alert.”

At Starling Holistic, I focus on helping the body feel safe again. When the nervous system calms, tension can soften, and pain can begin to ease.

Pain isn’t imagined.

It’s a message — and with the right support, that message can change ✨
