“Playing sport and exercising hadn’t really been a part of my life since my school days and in all honesty I never really liked it that much, but there was something different about joining Sport in Mind’s sessions – they were fun, relaxed and it wasn’t ever about how good you were.

“Attending the sessions helped me through some very dark days and enabled me to rediscover the old me, the woman that used to laugh and smile, and enjoy being around people. I don’t know where I would be now if I hadn’t gone along to their group that sunny, summer day… I guess it’s probably not worth thinking about.”

This is why we do what we do 🩵

“My name is Dexter, and I’m 13 years old. I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating to Sport in Mind. Because of your kindness, my life has changed in ways I never expected.

“Before I attended Sport in Mind sessions, things were hard for me and my family. I used to worry about things that most kids my age don’t think about. But thanks to your generosity, I’ve been able to get the support I needed. I feel safer, happier, more understood and more hopeful about my future.

“Thank you for caring about kids like me. Thank you for giving me hope. And thank you for reminding me that there are good, kind people in the world.“

Support Sport in Mind this Christmas, and help give more young people like Dexter the chance to feel safe, supported, and hopeful.

Every empty seat. Every empty pair of shoes. Each one a reminder of the teammates, friends, and family we’ve lost to silent battles.

Together, we can change this. Together, we can step forward for better mental health.
