Happy Solstice.
Today marks a turning point, from long days of dark to the return of more light!
In the northern hemisphere, this subtle shift matters more than we often acknowledge. And I felt that feeling when I spent 5 days in the deep of Lapland. In northern Lapland to be exact. The place where the sun doesn't rise at all around Christmas, creating the polar night (kaamos)

It really impacted my system, because, light isn't just symbolic. It directly influences mood, energy, sleep–wake rhythms, focus, and emotional regulation.
It profoundly impacts my circadian rhythm, I'm a happy lark up at 5.00 and to bed at 11.00 in mid UK Summer.
I'm a grumpy sleeping hibernating bear in the winter . . .

So, hooray for today.
Because if you're like me you know that even small increases in daylight can support steadier thinking, improved motivation, and a gentle lifting of heaviness that many people (like us) have been carrying quietly through the darker months.

The solstice is also a good time to remind us that change doesn’t always arrive with drama. Sometimes it begins almost imperceptibly, just a few extra minutes of light, a slightly easier morning, a small return of clarity.
If this season has felt demanding, consider today an invitation to pause rather than push. Notice what supports you. Protect your energy. Allow renewal to unfold gradually.
Wishing you steadiness, perspective, and a growing sense of light — inside and out.

🌱 Day 1 — The Voice We Carry

I read somewhere that the words we hear most often in childhood become the voices we carry inside.
My mind soundcloud whisper is:
“I’m so stupid, so, so stupid. Why did I do that, stupid?”

Maybe yours sounds different — but it has the same tone: the echo of expectation, disappointment, or fear.
What’s the phrase that still loops inside your head — and whose voice does it really belong to?

You are all invited to my event on Rest Less.

Join Me for a Gentle, Science-Backed Movement Hour?

Hello,

I wanted to send you a personal invitation to a special online class I’m running with Rest Less on Monday, 13th October at 4:00pm (BST):

Better Bones: The Anatomy of Movement
Hidden Bones, Strong Foundations, and Steady Steps

You already know how passionate I am about helping people move with more confidence, ease, and joy, so this event is very close to my heart. Whether you’re dealing with mobility or bone health challenges, or simply want to discover new ways to feel steadier, stronger and more connected to your body, I’d love you to join me.

In our friendly, interactive session, I’ll share:

How our “invisible” bones and posture quietly support balance and wellbeing

The surprising power of your calf muscles—the “second heart”—for strong movement and healthy circulation

Simple, science-backed strategies to help you move well and build better bones, every day

You don’t need to be fit or flexible, just curious! It’s designed for all abilities, with practical tips you can use straight away.
And please do invite a friend or loved one if you think they’d benefit.

Click here to register https://events.restless.co.uk/event-calendar/better-bones-the-anatomy-of-movement/

Note you need to register with Rest Less to access the hour event

If you decide it's not for you, but know someone else who may have problems with their bone health, movement, or sleep, then feel free to send this on to them.

Even if they're not available on Monday 13 October at 16.00 it doesn't matter, because if they sign up for the event they can access a recording afterwards to watch at their convenience.

Hope to see you there.

Warm wishes

Remember healthy nutrition is essential for healthy bones.

Today I made sauerkraut, very simple, low salt.
White cabbage, carrots, a small sprinkle of salt, mild chilli, lemon juice and water.
Now set aside to ferment for a few days.
Yummy
