Happy Kids Yoga Reading

Happy Kids Yoga Reading Bringing the magic of Happy Kids Yoga to schools and nurseries across the Reading area.

19/01/2026

I spent the weekend with an epic group of women who I have known for 27 years since meeting at uni! Yesterday we spent the morning at with for the most beautiful Soulful Sunday session. Yoga, reflection, manifesting all wrapped up in the warmth and joy of the people in the room. What made it extra special was being here with Jen from Happy Kids Yoga HQ. Our paths have interwoven for years and now here we are working together in the most incredible, fulfilling way. I’ll never take for granted all the routes and detours life throws at me. They all come good!💛✨

Once again our nursery tasters have proven to be a big hit! Spring term 1 is now full! I can’t wait to visit lots more settings to share the joy of yoga to little ones. Don’t panic though! I have a waiting list for any nurseries who would like to be contacted first for our next round of tasters after half term. Get in touch!💙🧡

Any opportunity to play with snow! Even with such a small amount! No doubt I’ll be down the local park later with my son! Snow makes me happy!

It’s felt very much like winter here in Reading today. Minus temperatures, blue sky and sun, my favourite combo! Took a lovely walk to the local for lunch and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I normally find the Sunday/New Year feeling quite unsettling, wondering what’s around the corner, but I’m feeling full of optimism and excitement for the year ahead. With back to school and back to work this week for us all, it was nice to spend time outdoors just being in the moment ✨

Every new year my family and I write wishes, affirmations and goals for the following year. We open our jar and read the previous years and celebrate our achievements and discuss ones that we haven’t reached…yet! It’s a tradition that we all enjoy and it’s a great start to the year. There’s no pressure and sometimes we’ve forgotten what we wrote, but somehow we always achieve one or two without even knowing it! There’s so many ways to write goals for the year ahead, if this is something you like doing, I really liked the idea of a bingo sheet like is making (take a look)

Wishing you a lovely New Years Day, whatever you may be doing 💙🧡

Legs up the wall 🤸

Either on your bed or on the floor sit your bottom as close to the wall as possible
Stretch your legs up the wall and let them rest there, shuffle closer if you need to
Take 8-10 deep breaths here to allow your body to relax into the position

This position calms the nervous system, slows your heart rate and quietens the mind

This is one of my favourite things to do with my son at bedtime. We sometimes read a story here!

If you try this tonight, let me know how it goes in the comments below. Sweet dreams ✨

Child pose 👶

Kneel and then sit on your knees
Gently guide your forehead down towards the floor
You can use your hands to do this and then reach your arms behind you
Take 8-10 breaths here to fully relax into the pose

This position sends a message to the body and brain, telling it that you are safe and that it’s ok to rest.

If you try this pose with your child tonight, or if you just want to do it for yourself, let me know how it makes you feel in the comments below. Sweet dreams ✨

Cat Cow Pose 🐈 🐄

Start in a table top position
Hands under shoulders
Knees under hips
Gently push into your hands to arch your back upwards
Look between your arms towards your tummy
This is cat pose

Bringing your back down to table top
Lift your head to look forwards again

Now continue the journey by pushing your tummy down towards the earth
Arching your back and opening your chest
Lifting your chin and your gaze towards the sky
This is cow pose

Take a deep breath in whilst in your table top, exhale as you move into cat pose, inhale as you flow through to cow pose. For little children using the animal noises can help control their breathing and add a few giggle to it too!

These poses stretch the torso and neck and gently massage the spine and internal organs. This can help with digestion and aid a better nights sleep. Connecting movement with the breath will give a calm, controlled feeling, ready for bedtime.

If you give this a try tonight, let me know in the comments below. Sweet dreams ✨

Christmas is a wonderful time of year but it can be overwhelming for some children. The extra plans, the noise, lights, change of routine.

In our home it’s the anxiety of presents being in the house, will they like them, where are they, can they open the ones that have already been given to them.

It can be a lot and at bedtime it can be difficult to settle. Over the next few evenings I’ll be sharing a few poses that can help ease bedtime. Try them with your child and explain what they are doing to the body and mind to help. The more they understand the more they will be willing to give it a try.

Let me know how you get on 💛✨
