Its been a whole year since my last day at my employed job that I left to focus on my private practice full time and be self employed full time instead of part time. This picture reminds me of how i was feeling on that day. Im so proud of myself for taking that leap of faith. If theres something that you know will make you happy but youre questionning will it be ok, listen to your intuition and take the leap of faith. Your butterfly future self will be thankful for it! 🌱 ❤️

Self-harm is often misunderstood. For many people, it is not about wanting to die, but about trying to cope with overwhelming emotional pain. Feelings such as trauma, abuse, loneliness, anxiety, anger, or being let down can become so intense that someone may turn to self-harm as a way to release or control those emotions.

Behind self-harm there is often a story of pain that has not been heard or understood. Judging or shaming someone can make the struggle even harder. Compassion, understanding, and support can make a powerful difference.

Recovery is possible. With the right support, healthier ways of coping can be learned. Talking to someone who listens without judgment can help reduce the isolation and pain someone may be feeling.

Ways to help prevent self-harm

• Talk to someone you trust about how you feel
• Seek professional help from a therapist, counselor, or doctor
• Learn coping strategies such as journaling, grounding techniques, or creative outlets
• Remove or avoid items that may be used for self-harm when you are struggling
• Build a support network of people who care about you
• Reach out during moments of crisis instead of facing them alone

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available.
