Poems are used in a service to help with putting things into words when you can't do so yourself.

There are a huge amount poems out there to use, sometimes I like to use them to help the service transition one part to another smoothly.

People often ask me to suggest poems, and I won't suggest any until I know more about your loved ones so I can try and suggest the more appropriate ones. πŸ–€

Memorial service Discussion (final part)

Overall, a memorial service will give you the scope and freedom, to include more into the service with less stress and less formality.

Majority of memorial services, won't need the involvement of a funeral director, unless you are wanting the coffin present. You can organise it all yourself, or with the help of family and/or friends, or I can help to organise with you.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch, or commentπŸ–€

Memorial Service Discussion (part 3)

Another type of memorial service, with the coffin present. This type of memorial service, is more like an informal funeral service, but gives an opportunity to have a longer service, have a venue of your choice and feel a more relaxed.

This option could be chosen for different reasons; some people like the idea of a funeral being intimate and for family only or some people feel a funeral is too "formal" and sometimes even because people feel with it being a "funeral" it has to reflect on the fact that your loved one has died, instead of focusing on the positive and remembering who they were. So, having a memorial service gives people a more relaxed feeling.

This particular memorial service will need to have the involvement of your chosen funeral director, for the transportation of the coffin etc. πŸ–€

Memorial Service Discussion (part 2)

Another type of memorial service people have are with the ashes of their loved one, this could be for a number of reasons, where maybe there couldn't be a service at the time but you would still like to celebrate/remember their life but want to keep the ashes (no internment/scattering).

This service, again could be held anywhere, and no need for assistance of anyone else (only yourself and if you wish to ask family or friends for help).

This is again, depending on the venue depending on the amount of time we have for the service itself (this can be discussed at the time of booking).

If you would like any further information on this or have any questions, please feel free to comment or message πŸ–€

Memorial Service Discussion (part 1)

One type of memorial service is for a certain amount of time/anniversary of death etc.

For example, a year, 2 years, 10 years etc.

These type of memorial services could be held in a venue of your choice, depending on the chosen venue if they can facilitate etc.

The approach from myself for this, is the same as always. You're loved one is the focus of our conversation and the focus of the service.

Depending on the venue, will depend on the amount of the time we have for the service. Sometimes the memorial service will be a space to talk about different things that were spoken about in the funeral service (if you had one).
For a funeral service, usually, as a celebrant, we will speak to the family but with a memorial service, we will have more scope to speak with others who had a bond and relationship with your loved one.
This is one big difference of a memorial service, because it is more about the memories and remembering them along with your loved one.
You can have a memorial service, any time and any day (again, providing the chosen venue can facilitate), which can give everyone more time to organise and make sure it is perfect for what you are expecting.

This type of service, you will not need any help from a funeral director. You can do it all yourself, or I am happy to help with this, or choose someone you trust to help you.

If anyone has any questions about this, please don't hesitate to contact me . πŸ–€

Having a checklist is good for everything, especially for things you are not used to doing, so having a checklist for a funeral and the service can be helpful.

below I will put some things to consider, from myself, when it comes to the SERVICE for the funeral, but when arranging the whole funeral there will be more things to think about. (I can help with another checklist I have available for that - that may feel a bit easier when seeing your chosen funeral director).

Things to consider before seeing myself;
- the feel you want for the service (is it going to be more or a celebration)
- if you want to close the curtains (depending on the venue)
- music you want during the music
- if you are having a visual tribute or webcast (this will be booked through the funeral director but something that i would need to know).

The main things we will talk about will be;
the type of person your loved one was, their life story, any memories, and maybe how others would say about them πŸ–€

Memorial Service...

A memorial service is also one of the least popular choices and it's a choice that not many people know are even an option!

A memorial service can happen in different places and different circumstances.

A couple of examples of the circumstances could be;
- your loved one wanted/pre-planned a direct cremation but you wanted to celebrate and honour their life
- it has been a year, 2 years etc since your loved ones passing and you want to remember them
- you want a service with the ashes but don't want to inter or scatter them
- don't want it to feel like a formal funeral.

The service could also be held in a venue of your choice (depending on availability etc and if they offer that)

A memorial service can be what ever you wish it to be. In the next week or so I will talk more about memorial services and explain different choices and options that could be available to you and your family. πŸ–€

Internment/Scattering of ashes...

This is one of the least common services.

The usual for this is not to have any type of service etc but there are some people who choose to have a small service at the internment/scattering.

People choose to have this type of service for different reasons, two more common reasons being;
- your loved one wanted/planned a direct cremation but you wanted to honour and celebrate them.
- you want a private and more intimate setting for saying your final goodbyes.
