Most of us explain our bodies with stories like:
โ€œIโ€™m just built this way.โ€
โ€œIโ€™ve always been like this.โ€

But hereโ€™s the question I always ask:

Were you actually born like that?

There isnโ€™t one โ€œnormal.โ€
Whatโ€™s normal for you may not be optimal for your body.

You need a better understanding of the one you already live in.

January is full of advice, ads about what to fix.

๐Ÿก’Stretch this.
๐Ÿก’Move more.
๐Ÿก’Sit straighter.
๐Ÿก’Strengthen that.

But back, joint pain and body alignment are rarely isolated problems.

Theyโ€™re patterns - patterns your body has organised over time in response to stress, load, injury, and how safe it feels.

Those patterns are influenced by:
๐Ÿก’how you move
๐Ÿก’how your nervous system is coping
๐Ÿก’how your sensory organs are working ( feet, jaw, eyes)

Thatโ€™s why โ€™exercising moreโ€™ doesnโ€™t always help.

If the underlying pattern stays the same, the body keeps responding in the same way.

What many people experience as โ€œstiffnessโ€ or โ€œtightnessโ€ is often protection.

"Honestly; I get it! You seek pain reliefโ€ฆ

When you're in pain, relief is the goal.

You try it all:

๐Ÿก’red light therapy,
๐Ÿก’osteopath,
๐Ÿก’youtube โ€˜posture guruโ€™ tutorials.

Thatโ€™s natural. Thatโ€™s human.

But hereโ€™s the part you may not realise:

If pain is coming from an altered movement pattern or body asymmetry,
no passive treatment - massage, injections, gadgets - can undo that.

They may calm symptoms.
They donโ€™t change the strategy your body is using.

And thereโ€™s a bigger pattern I see all the time:

Pain eases โ†’ life gets busy โ†’ awareness disappears.

Until the pain comes back.
Often louder. Often elsewhere.

Clientโ€™s pain disappeared โ€” without stretching, massage or strengthening

Back in July, Alison booked a complimentary Posture Audit.

Sheโ€™d been dealing with persistent neck and shoulder pain that effected her sleep and physical activity.

She reached out to a physio and a chiropractor.

She sent me four postural photos.

From those photos alone, we identified:

โ†’ a higher right shoulder
โ†’ a twisted torso and pelvis
โ†’ compensations that explained her neck + shoulder pain
โ†’ and signs of scoliosis (later confirmed by X-ray by her chiropractor)

No one had ever explained why her pain kept returning โ€” or how her whole body was involved.

The advice, she received by health care practitioners was - strenghten - lift heavy.

Hereโ€™s what she did next:

She adjusted her desk and chair setup
And she enrolled in my 3-month Energized & Pain-Free 1:1 programme and performed dsily progressive correction drills to restore alignment and movement of her joints.

Her goal was simple: Eliminate pain in her left shoulder and neck.

Fast forward to today โ€” our final progress call.

โ†’ Neck pain: zero
โ†’ Shoulder pain: zero
โ†’ Full movement restored
โ†’ Sleeping comfortably
โ†’ Able to load and move without fear of pain and strain.

Now hereโ€™s the part that matters most.

What we did NOT do:

โœ— Stretching
โœ— Mobilising
โœ— Pressure points
โœ— Myofascial release
โœ— Massage
โœ— Strengthening

What we DID โ€” daily:

โ†’ Restore joint mechanics
โ†’ Improve how joints, muscles, bones and tissues work together
โ†’ Retrain how her body organises itself when she sits, walks, lifts and moves

This is biomechanics.

And honestly โ€” even after 15 years in the industry โ€” Iโ€™m still amazed by the difference.

Iโ€™ve spent years applying:
โ†’ personal training
โ†’ Pilates
โ†’ rehabilitation-style exercises

They helpedโ€ฆ partly.
Strength and mobility improved, but progress was slower.

Biomechanics changed that.

It gave me the tools to:
โ†’ shorten clients recovery time
โ†’ remove pain and tension at the root
โ†’ create change that actually sticks

Two class participants were on their mats...
โ†’ heads down
โ†’ shoulders rounded
โ†’ slouching

Completely absorbed in their phones.

I stopped, stood behind them - they didn't even turned their heads.

Not long ago, those few minutes before class looked very different.

โ†’ People lay down
โ†’ They breathed
โ†’ They stretched

This isnโ€™t about judgement.
Itโ€™s about ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š ๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐ฉ๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง.

We live in a world where our attention and nervous system is constantly pulled outward.

Screens demand attention.
Our head shifts forward.
Our breath becomes shallow.
Our body contracts and disconnects.

And then we wonder why we feel tense, stiff, tired or โ€œout of alignment.โ€

The most powerful warm-up isnโ€™t another stretch.
Itโ€™s reconnecting with yourself.

Today I wrapped up an end-of-program review with a client from the first round of Energized & Pain Free.

Her pain has decreased significantly.
In some joints, itโ€™s completely gone.

But what moved me most wasnโ€™t just how she felt - it was ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐›๐จ๐๐ฒโ€™๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ฌ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ.

And yetโ€ฆ it felt like we were just getting started.

Your body doesnโ€™t like rush.
It doesnโ€™t care about deadlines, timelines, or New Year promises.

๐ˆ๐ญ ๐ก๐š๐ฌ ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ฉ๐š๐œ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ก๐ž๐ง ๐ฐ๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ญ, ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฅ ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ.

Thereโ€™s still work to do.
Not because we didn't achieve our ultimate goal yet but ๐›๐ž๐œ๐š๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐›๐จ๐๐ฒ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ž.

So if 2025 was โ€œmeantโ€ to be your year of health, but you didnโ€™t tick every box you setโ€ฆ

Please donโ€™t beat yourself up.

Health isnโ€™t something we do occasionally.
Itโ€™s something we practise daily.

Something that evolves with awareness, consistency, and patience.

You canโ€™t put a deadline on becoming healthier or a better version of yourself.

Instead of asking:

This is a simple yet very effective way to reset yoyr spine, position of pelvis and ribcage aka posture stack.

Before you do it, lie down on your back withlegs straight - ferl where your body is in space on against floor, especially your spine pelvis ribcage.

Follow the video instructions in the morning and evening for 8 breath cycles. Keep your back flat, only tailbone is up, back of thighs activated.

Breath well:
Inhale to expand ribcage
Exhale for 5 sec. with open mouth as if you are fogging a mirror. Feel your side abs activation. Close lips and pause for 2 sec. with tongue resting against roof.
