🌕Harvest (Corn) Moon🌕
As summer winds down, it’s easy to lose sight of the moon’s quiet beauty — but this week, it is impossible to miss. The nearly full moon glowing in the evening sky marked the arrival of the Harvest (or corn) Moon — and it's as symbolic as it is stunning.
This harvest moon is the fourth and final super moon of the year, a super moon is when the moon is closest to the Earth appearing brighter and bigger.
Traditionally, the Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the autumn equinox. Centuries ago, farmers would rely on its extended moonlight to gather crops late into the night — a celestial helping hand during the busiest time of the agricultural year. That same moon still graces us with its brilliance today, rising at nearly the same time for several nights in a row, and shining especially bright.
Symbolically, the Harvest Moon represents abundance, gratitude, and release — a time to acknowledge the rewards of your hard work and let go of what no longer serves you.
Astrologically, this year's Harvest Moon rises in Pisces, bringing themes of emotional healing, introspection, and setting soulful intentions for your own personal harvest.
This full moon is also extra special because it will appear red in colour owing to the lunar eclipse, some call this a 'blood moon'. A blood moon occurs when the Earth moves directly between the sun and the moon, casting it's shadow across the lunar surface. The moon takes on a red tint because the sunlight is filtered through the Earth's atmosphere.
When the harvest moon rises into UK skies on September 7th, take a moment to pause, reflect, and bask in the glow.
