The Wise Owl speaks.
How to begin healing emotional wounds.
There comes a time in every soul’s journey when a truth reveals itself and that is no one else can heal you.
For many seasons, you may believe that if you keep giving, keep helping, keep pouring yourself into others, the ache inside will soften. And though the warmth of connection can soothe for a moment, true healing… begins not in the outer world, but in the sacred solitude of your own heart.
Think of a wound upon the skin. Before it can close, it must be cleansed. If you leave it in the dust, in noise, or in chaos, it festers. So too with the wounds of the spirit. If you carry them into drama, distraction, or old habits of escape, they deepen.
The first step, my child, is courage - courage to face the wound, to say yes, this pain is mine.
In that claiming lies power, for when you own your feeling, you also uncover its medicine.
Turn, as I do, to the teachings of nature. If you carry rage, grief, or sorrow, find its form in the world around you. A heavy stone, a jagged branch, even the softness of a feather. Hold it, see it, and remember the feeling is real, but it does not define you.
Then, the cleansing must begin. Just as rain washes the earth, you too must wash the spirit. Salt upon the skin, water flowing clear these simple steps remind you of the tenderness within, and of the release that follows.
Yet hear this no one else can cleanse your wounds others may offer comfort, a kind word, a gentle touch. But if you give your pain away, waiting for another to carry it, you remain bound to them.
True healing requires responsibility.
As children, we are soothed by the voice that whispers, “There, there, it will be okay.” But as adults, healing is different it asks of you to claim what is yours.
Your joy, your sorrow, your anger, your love they all belong to you alone.
When you hand them away, you hand away your personal power.
When you reclaim them, you return to your own heart.
So see your wounds not as curses, nor weakness. They are sacred places, holding medicine that no one else can give.
In tending to them with honesty in cleansing them with care you reveal the strength and wisdom that has always been yours.
The medicine of healing is simple, though never easy
Look at the wound.
Acknowledge it as yours.
Cleanse it, body and spirit.
Claim your feelings.
Receive the wisdom hidden within.
This is sovereignty.
This is wholeness.
For the freedom you seek is not out there in someone else or some place else it has always lived within, waiting for you to turn inward, to listen, to rise.
Remember this child of the earth the truest healing asks for no applause, no validation, no witness.
It is quiet. It is unseen. It belongs to you.
And in this truth, you are free.
Owl Medicine.
