So each year for as long as I can remember, as we approach the end of year, talk changes to resolutions. By at least the 6th of January these have been broken and disappointment begins to creep in. Sound familiar?
So what if you do things differently? What if you don't make a resolution? will the sky fall in? will you implode? Errrmmm No!
So what can you do?
Well I urge you to go make a coffee, find somewhere comfy to sit quietly and go through your camera roll, go right back to January 1st 2025.
Now look at all you did, all that you overcome, achieved and just imagine for a moment how much better 2026 can be.
Maybe there were days catching up with friends, family or places your visited. What if....you did more in the new year? how exciting would it be to plan for all of that? sounds much better than starting a plate of salad in the name of being healthy, right?
If you would like support to look at and explore positive changes then get in touch to book a session. There are still some available session before the Christmas break.
What's stopping you?
DM to discuss your needs and how I can help.

A busy week has been had with lots of reflections. Making changes now and taking control of the future is really important to my practice, particularly as we reach the latter weeks of the year.
So over the next few weeks, may be months, my contol will be growing in strength.
However, today is Friday and its chill time because that too is in my control.

I often hear and indeed I have said myself 'I just want to get back to the old me'
Striving for that 'old' version of self can give feelings of stuckness or hopelessness.
I mean, is it even possible? The answer is no. How can you go back in time? We can't change the past. We can change the future. We can shape and adapt ourselves into a better position through experience.
If you would like support in creating a better future then please DM or email sblackshaw.counselling@gmail.com

Grief. We all experience grief differently. Not one of us feel the same. We may have similar experiences or events.
Here's a little of what I've learned from the passing of my brother 15 years ago.

Life is short,
Live life for you not others
Grief doesn't end as the church doors close
Love doesn't waver
Remembering and celebrating is important
Being happy and smiling again isn't disrespectful
Squeeze and love your people just a little tighter
There's joy to be found in everyday
Everyday offers joy
Speak openly about grief, someone might benefit
Someone dying doesn't mean your life is over
Sitting with grief is ok as long as you don't unpack
Grief is hard, it does get easier if you allow growth
Grief can be messy and unpredictable - that's normal
You're gonna be ok
