💛 You've had the same argument about who's making the tea for 15 years.
💛 Someone's dog is definitely more popular than you are.
💛 A customer pops in "just to say hello" and stays for an hour.
💛 You genuinely know the names of people's grandchildren.
💛 Liz is fixing something complicated in the back and Ian is explaining something in great detail on the other end of the shop.

And somehow, every single day, you wouldn't swap it for anything.

Getting up from a low chair is one of those things that creeps up quietly. One day it's fine. Then it takes a little more effort. Then you find yourself choosing where you sit based on whether you'll be able to get back up again.

A rise and recline chair doesn't take away independence. It protects it.

At the press of a button, the chair gently rises to bring you to a standing position, no strain, no struggle, no needing to ask for help.

For many of our customers, it becomes the most used and most loved thing in their living room.

Eleven years in the family business and he still hasn't learned to make the tea.

Freddy joined us as a six-week-old puppy back in 2014, and he has taken his role as Head of Customer Morale very seriously ever since.

He's been a comfort to customers on difficult days. He's sat on laps during long chats about stairlifts. He's greeted strangers like old friends and made more than a few people smile at exactly the right moment.

People who've visited the shop years ago still ask after him.

He is, without question, our most popular team member. (Don't tell Ian!)

If you've never met Freddy, come in. He'll be the one asleep in the best spot in the shop.

Liz can take one look and know straight away. The battery can be showing as charged, but have nothing left to give. It's one of the most common faults we see, and one of the most confusing, because the scooter seems fine… until it isn't.

For a smaller scooter, we can diagnose the issue, make a replacement, and send you out on your way in just 20 minutes!

If it’s a larger scooter, we’ll need a few hours to test, and we usually combine this with a service. But rest assured, we will always do our utmost to get it back to you as soon as possible.

Because we understand the impact of not having a working mobility aid and we want you back up and running quickly!

Watch until the end and you'll see our happy customer! He drove for most of his life. But recently decided, in his own time and on his own terms, that it was time to stop.

What he wasn't ready to give up was his independence.

So he came to see us. No rush, no pressure, just a friendly chat, a try of a few different options, and eventually, the perfect match.

Today was delivery day. Keren set off on a gorgeous sunny morning with a brand new scooter, canopy fitted and ready to go, and we couldn't be more delighted for our customer.

Ninety years old. New scooter. Sunny day. That's what we call a good day at work. ☀️💛

Ian is either working on a WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle), or buried in the admin that keeps everything running smoothly.

Liz is usually in the workshop, hands on, keeping scooters running and customers moving.

Joe is usually on a laptop, working on the website.

Keren is on the shop floor, patient, warm, making sure every visitor feels heard.

Even Freddy has a job. Although most of the time he’s sleeping on it.

We might be a small team but every single one of us plays a part in making sure our customers get the best possible experience.

That's what it means to be a family business. Not just a marketing phrase, but the real thing!

Who said walking aids had to be boring? Because these absolutely are not!

There's a moment a lot of families recognise. Mum or Dad is still completely with it, still sharp, still independent, still very much themselves, but you've noticed they're a little less steady on their feet than they used to be.

They don't need anything major. They just need a little something to lean on. And if that something happens to look this good? Even better.

A great walking stick isn't just practical. It's a confidence booster. It's the difference between staying home just in case, and getting out the door without a second thought.

Admitting you need a little help getting around is never an easy thing to do. When George came to us, we didn't push him toward anything. We just listened. Had a chat. Let him try a few things at his own pace.

And last week, we delivered George’s brand new scooter!

Watching him take it out for the first time, the smile on his face, was better than words.

It’s not just a mobility scooter. It's getting back out into the garden. It's the morning walk to the local shop he thought he'd lost. It's independence, back where it belongs.

It’s something we see fairly often in the workshop, and it can catch people out because the changes tend to happen gradually.

💛 The first sign is that the scooter loses charge much faster than it used to. A journey you used to make comfortably suddenly leaves the battery much lower than expected.

💛 Another common sign is when the scooter starts to struggle on hills or slight inclines that it previously handled without any problem.

💛 And sometimes the battery indicator can be misleading. It might show as fully charged, but the power drops suddenly once you start using the scooter, leaving people confused and frustrated.

When a scooter battery begins to wear out, it doesn’t always stop working straight away. Often the changes are subtle at first, but over time they can make the scooter unreliable.

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, it might simply be time to have the battery checked.

We test and replace scooter batteries regularly here in the workshop, and we’re always happy to take a look and give honest advice.

One of the things people often say when they visit the shop is,

Liz has been repairing, rebuilding and diagnosing mobility scooters for many years, and there aren’t many problems she hasn’t seen before.

When someone’s scooter stops working, it’s not just inconvenient, it can mean being completely stuck at home. That’s why getting people moving again quickly is always our priority.

But repairs are only part of what we do.

We also stock a wide range of new mobility scooters, from lightweight models that are easy to lift into the car, to larger, more robust scooters designed for longer journeys and rougher terrain.

And for people who find lifting a scooter difficult altogether, we can also help with Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), allowing you to simply drive the scooter straight up a ramp into the vehicle.
