Green Fingers🌻🌺

We have been enjoying our garden, with many residents taking part in the upkeep of the plants! Our seeds we planted inside are also developing well and will soon be ready for the garden.

Our DofE volunteers are continuing to enjoy their visits, increasing them further! Residents enjoyed playing balloon tennis - a few of them showed just how competitive they are.

Birthday's are always a special occasion at Cedar Lawn, complete with homemade cake! 😊

Last week was full of music and singing! We had a visit from Hope Choir, and another from Retro Rita. These are both favourites of the residents!

Good music is mood boosting for all of us, helps to recall past memories, and with the addition of some musical instruments, it has physical benefits too!

Spring 🌼

Cedar Lawn residents have been planting seeds and monitoring their progress over the last few weeks. A huge thank you to our volunteer who helped and shared their gardening knowledge too!
We look forward to transferring them to the garden soon!
To add some colour, new hanging baskets have also been implemented at the front of the house.

Two local students have began volunteering, to aid their Duke of Edinburgh programme. Residents enjoyed showing them their favourite games and look forward to their next visits, to get more creative! One resident said "Thank you for coming, I look forward to seeing you develop!"

🌟 National Apprenticeship Week 🌟

We have been celebrating National Apprenticeship week at Cedar Lawn, and all the hard work our apprentices have been putting into their studies - combining learning, with practical on the job training, helping to develop staff skills, and increase knowledge to support residents. We currently have staff completing apprenticeships in Care, HR and Senior Leadership.

Cedar Lawn residents enjoyed a visit from Critter Cuddles yesterday, following a request in one of their residents meetings for more animal visits!

Residents and staff enjoyed meeting all of the animals, which brought back memories of past pets, and also offered a sensory experience for all residents wishing to participate - including those in their rooms.

Baking and getting creative🍪

Cedar Lawn residents have been making use of our kitchenette, baking their own biscuits for afternoon tea! It was delightful to smell the freshly baked treats throughout the day rooms.

Residents also enjoyed crafting - this time decorating their own photo frames!

Coffee and cake at Hillier Gardens was another highlight, on our weekly outing! 🥰

A great start to 2026!

The start of the New Year was celebrated successfully, with residents creating their own special party hats for the occasion.

We will be continuing our trips out with Driving Miss Daisy Romsey, in the lead up to new year, residents enjoyed a visit to Wellow Golf Club for refreshments, which the residents said they thoroughly enjoyed.

Ollie Fox celebrated his 2nd birthday!

One resident has been treating us all to some music on the organ - supporting residents to enjoy their hobbies and keep their skills is important to us at Cedar Lawn, but also benefits the other residents who enjoy singing along!

Christmas at Cedar Lawn 🎄

Christmas week was very special! We all enjoyed singing Christmas carols, playing games and having visits from loved ones. The traditional Christmas lunch went down well too!

We are now preparing for New Years celebrations!

The lead up to Christmas has been filled with fun, laughter and a whole lot of singing!

Last week we had a Residents Christmas Party, and a family carol service led by Rev. Tom Benson.

Cllr. Gordon Bailey Mayor of Test Valley kindly joined us to sing along to the Romsey Ukulele Group on Friday, and residents commented on how nice it was to meet the Mayor!
One resident said "What a day we had, the whole place was alive!"

Keeping residents involved with the local community is a key part of life at Cedar Lawn.

The festivities will continue this week, with everyone especially looking forward to Christmas dinner!

A huge thank you to all of the Cedar Lawn team, for their hard work, ensuring the residents have a wonderful Christmas time.

Christmas Jumper Day 2025 Save the Children UK🎄

We all had fun getting dressed up in our festive jumpers and hats!

There has been plenty of opportunity to show our creative sides with Christmas themed art, craft and games, and supporting to decorate the many Christmas trees we have up this year - there were even some special little helpers!

The festivities will continue next week, we are all looking forward to the residents Christmas party!

Our Christmas celebrations have begun, and it is wonderful to see the residents enjoying themselves, along with their families and the team of staff!

We are lucky to have made wonderful links within our local community, and have had visits from Hope Choir and Halterworth School Choir. The residents commented on how polite the children were, and enjoyed engaging with them.

Everyone was dancing and singing along to Cosmic Sparkle this week, and the celebrations will continue over the next few weeks!

Thank you to all of the team and families who help to support these events for our residents.

We have had our monthly visit from our lovely Pets As Therapy volunteer + her dog this week. This is a popular visit, which benefits all residents, if they wish to join in.

Residents enjoy reminiscing about the pets they had previously and comment on how soft Luna's fur is, providing a sensory experience too.
