Cedar Lawn is a nursing home situated in the Hampshire Market town of Romsey.

August has been a busy month, full of outings to the local area, games sessions full of competition, and of course, many afternoons sat out in our lovely garden!

The residents are pleased to be involved in choosing where they go on the outings, which they say helps to bring back fond memories for them!

The residents have been getting creative, and have been helping out around the house and garden over the last few weeks! Tasting their chocolate covered strawberries, which they helped to create was a highlight, along with sampling the ice cream home made by Head Chef Michael!

There is always chance for our competitive sides to come out, and this time it was during a game of ludo!

Thank you to all staff, relatives and volunteers who
donated prizes, helped set up, run the Summer fayre, clear up
after and to our chefs who provided the delicious
homemade cakes! The team effort shown was key to
the successful event!

We all enjoyed the entertainment from Romsey Ukulele Group!

We will be making a donation from the funds raised to Romsey Young Carers and were delighted that one of the volunteers and some of the young people were able to join us at the fayre!

One resident said “Thank you for organising this, it has
made us all happy.”

We were lucky to have another visit from Halterworth School Choir recently. The residents enjoyed sitting on the decking, singing along with the children. It was lovely to see both generations interacting positively after. The residents commented on the children's manners, with one calling the children "a delight."

There was chance last week to practice our singing with a visit from Retro Rita! Singing along to all the classics. Everyone commented on the effort she puts in, and admired her pretty dress too!

Residents kindly created cards for our carers and volunteers, to thank them for the hard work and kindness they always show.

There was also a bit of competition during a game of balloon tennis, helping to keep everyone active!

We have had successful trips out to Sir Harold Hillier Arboretum and Gardens and Carlos Ices & Tea Rooms. The ice creams were very welcome in this warm weather!

A reminder for our Afternoon Tea tomorrow, Wednesday 18th June. Everyone Welcome - friends, family, or if you just want to see what Cedar Lawn is like and sample our chefs lovely cakes!

We have had fun baking this week, making cakes, with Activities Coordinator Meha, which everyone enjoyed sampling of course! There were even two special helpers, Ollie Fox and Jess the Sheep dog!
Over the last two weeks we had trips to Kimbridge Barn and Hillier Garden Centres with Driving Miss Daisy Romsey.
Everyone's competitive sides came out during the inhouse games sessions.

It has been a busy two weeks at Cedar Lawn, celebrating VE Day, with reminiscence and home made cake, a session with Rise Sports, and two more outings to the local garden centre, among other things! One Resident said her outing was "the most wonderful day!"

Getting out in the local community and keeping residents active is a key focus at Cedar Lawn.

A huge Thank You to our wonderful nurses at Cedar Lawn, and all over the world, who show their dedication to the people they care for, not just today, but each and every day.

Everything they do is always appreciated.

Everyone at Cedar Lawn has been making the most of the sunshine this week, spending time in the garden having tea, doing art and craft, and some residents have even enjoyed their first trip out today with Driving Miss Daisy Romsey and our Activities Coordinator, to Carlos Tea Rooms. We very much look forward to the next trip out.

We held an exercise class earlier in the week, which was popular with the residents, who like to keep themselves as active as possible!

Welcome to Cedar Lawn's new page! We have been busy over the last few days celebrating Easter and Spring, with activities, walks in the garden, Easter lunch, family visits and of course.. Chocolate!

Each resident was gifted an Easter Egg from Cedar Lawn and we are all glad to be able to spend more time outdoors.
