As we come to the end of I wanted to share some easy ways you can eat in a more sustainable way.
*Reduce your food waste: we throw away 7.3 million tonnes of food each year (71% from our homes) which equates to about £470 per household. Plan meals, use left overs up, writing shopping lists can help reduce waste.
*Eat seasonal and local: Choose fresh fruit & veg that is in season and grown locally, this reduces food miles and greenhouse gases associated with food transportation
*Follow the Eatwell Guide: By eating a balanced diet, rich in fruit & vegetables with a wide variety of foods can reduce the environmental impact of diets by 31% , compared to a UK typical diet.

Vitamin D Supplements - should you be taking them?
Vitamin D helps to keep bones, teeth ad muscles healthy, we should be able to make all of our vitamin D from the lovely sunshine from April to September but in the winter we cannot make enough vitamin D from the winter sun.
Current recommendations is that everyone should consider taking a daily vitamin D supplement in Autumn and Winter.
Children from the age of 1 and adults need 10 micrograms of Vitamin D per day. Vitamin D can be found in some foods including oily fish, red meat, liver, egg yolks and fortified breakfast cereals and spreads.
